Gary Klemme

1954 - 2025

Gary William Klemme was a true original, he was spirited, athletic, and full of heart. Born and raised in Miami, he lived a life defined by movement, compassion, and curiosity. An incredible athlete, Gary was a dedicated runner, swimmer, tennis player, and triathlete. His determination and love for the outdoors shaped his life. One of his proudest moments was running with the Olympic Torch in 1996.

Gary also had a deep affection for animals and nature. He raised pigeons and found joy in caring for the creatures others overlooked. He loved the ocean deeply. You could often find him at Haulover pier or beach; swimming, fishing, or rescuing pelicans. His kindness extended beyond words, it was felt in every gentle act and every living thing he cared for. A lover of music, he filled his life with rhythm, meaning, and an ear for the songs that connected people.

Gary's greatest pride and joy was his family. He is survived by his beloved daughter, Katlin Klemme Ramos, his son-in-law Alexander Ramos, and his two cherished grandchildren, Aiden (4) and Chloe (1), who will carry his love and spirit forward always. He is also survived by his sisters, Debbie Klemme Greenberg and Carol Klemme Kerstein, who shared in his history, his laughter, and his life's journey. Though he will be deeply missed, his presence will continue to live on in the hearts and lives of those who love him.

In lieu of flowers, the family kindly requests that donations be made in Gary's honor to Pelican Harbor Seabird Station, a sanctuary he dearly loved and supported.
