GARY VIOLET Obituary

VIOLET, GARY LEE, of Coral Springs, FL, passed away on February 6, 2016, from natural causes. Gary was born April 27, 1950, in Ada, Oklahama, to Lee and Robbie Violet. Gary is survived by his sister, Janis Walker and husband, Jerry; two nieces and their families; and Viola Ann Violet, Gary's ex-wife of 32 years. Previously, Gary lived in Miami Beach and Hot Springs, Arkansas, where he enjoyed boating and the beach. Gary graduated in 1967 from High School in Aberdeen, MS, where he wed Viola Ann Violet in 1969. In Aberdeen, Gary worked at a local radio station as a DJ where his love and talent for broadcasting emerged. Initially, Gary worked for five years as a transmitter engineer with the MS Department of Educational TV in Inverness, MS. Gary and Ann Violet formed Violet Broadcasting which spanned a 30 year career in FM and AM radio development and broadcasting in Mississippi, Kansas, Iowa, Arkansas and Florida. Gary was a licensed pilot which facilitated his multi-state radio development and broadcast career. The Violets obtained permits from the Federal Communication Commission to begin five new radio stations, the first being KBUZ FM in 1979 in Kansas, and the last being WWWK FM in 1999 in Marathon Key, FL. Gary was a brilliant, licensed radio engineer and constructed the KBUZ radio tower and broadcast studio with his own hands. Ann and Robbie Violet assisted Gary with daily broadcast operations. Violet Broadcasting was a small family operation, as listed in Wikipedia, that achieved remarkable success. Memorials may be made to the Central Church of Christ; 820 Stadium Drive; Ada, Oklahoma, 74820.

Gary we all miss you! I wish that you could have stayed around longer. You´re flying with the angels now. I really appreciate everything that I had the opportunity to learn from you. You were a very neat and intelligent person who I learned a lot from, a dreamer. Every time I see an electric bicycle I think of you. They are everywhere now. I remember you selling them at an American Airlines safety fair many years ago. You had ways to predict things way before they were popular. Everyone had lots of fun with you and I have so many cherished memories. I miss you!

Condolences to Gary Violet's Family! You will truly be missed. I will never forget how you not only cared for your employee's but their families as well. Enjoyed the times you would invite employee's and their wives to South Beach (Miami) Florida for get aways for winter break and we'd always ring in the New Years together; after you sold the radio station in Wichita Kansas it just wasn't the same. I will never forget the good times we all shared with each other. You will be missed . God Bless
May the Lord Comfort and Strengthen your Family. In Jesus Name
Amen! Amen! Amen!

Gary I miss you more than words can describe. No one ever thought you would leave this earth that quickly. I miss your voice and all of the many conversations we had, all of the many things I learned from you and all of the great times we shared laughing, listening to music, on roller blades, on the beach, on the boat, at your radio station and just chilling watching movies. My only comfort is knowing you are not suffering, not sick, just dancing with the angels now. I look forward to seeing you again. My condolences go out to Gary's family and everyone he touched. We lost a very generous and smart man. I believe a genius. I will miss that I never got to hug you again and talk as we used to do for hours and hours. May you rest in peace my friend.
