Please accept my deepest sympathies.
I will always cherish and remember the 5 years I spent working for Mr. Herbert, Jean, Mr. Merton and family.
Mr. Herbert (as I called him) thought me so much. Words cannot express how he impacted me, and the gratitude I feel for him and his whole family.
His knowledge about everything, and his patience to teach a then 19 year old girl, will forever stay in my heart.
Thank you Mr. Herbert.

Herb was without a doubt one of my very best Realtor friends.
We used to have lunch together quite often and we shared our experiences as former Presidents of the Board of Realtors (he obviously had much more experience than I - I was only president two times, he was three); our families and what was happening in the business. Corinne and I also enjoyed our dinners with Herb and Jean and Corinne especially enjoyed working on projects with Jean (the anti Graffiti program that they single handedly got off the ground for Dade County).
No question I'll miss Herb but his memory will encourage me to be always be happy just like he was at all times in his life.
What a guy!

The news of Mr. Simon's passing made me feel very sad. I cannot tell the family what he and his wife meant to me.
When I was an extremely unhappy student at Gables High I met Barbara. She was one of the few who took me into her circle and treated me with kindness and respect. The best thing she did was to invite me to her home. There I met the parents I wish I had had. Mr. and Mrs. Simon were the most gracious, loving, caring people I ever met. They obviously loved each other, had respect for one another, loved their family and treated everyone as one of their own.
I loved going and visiting with them. It is hard for me to separate Mr. Simon from Mrs. Simon. They were always a team.
I want to tell Barbara, Pat and Mrs. Simon how sorry I am about his passing. I want them to know that he will not be forgotten in my lifetime. He was truly one of a kind.
I also want them to celebrate having such a wonderful father and husband in their lives for his long and fruitful time here. How very lucky they all are.
With much love,
Joan Andes Redlhammer

Dear Jeannette, I was saddened to learn of Herbert's death. It's been a long, long time since we've seen each other and a lot has happened in the time between. You probably remember me as Bebe Fineman PRUSOFF. Then I was Bebe Stewart and now Bebe Fish. I've lost 2 husbands; Horace's lost 4 wives. We KNOW how you feel. We've been where you are. All our best wishes and prayers for you and yours. In love remembering,
Bebe (Prusoff) with Horace Fish

Evelyn and I join in the many memories of knowing such a Man for all Seasons. His genteelness and love of life was noted by us all.
We were blessed to have had Herbert Lee Simon walk this earth. May his memory be a blessing to his families and to whom he was known.

Herbert Lee Simon was an exceptional leader, businessman and friend. He was the only 3-term Past President in the entire 90-year history of the Miami Board of Realtors and held that distinction in three different decades. He was a leader to be honored, a mentor to be admired, and friend to be cherished. We are who we are today in Miami Real Estate and the association thanks to his wisdom, guidance and leadership.
In addition to his many awards and honors including Realtor of the Year, we were given the opportunity to bestow upon Herbert the prestigious Realtor Emeritus Award from the National Association of Realtors, with Jean at his side - the first ever to be presented by RAMB for NAR.
At our 85th RAMB Installation and Awards Luncheon at The Biltmore Hotel, Herb led off the "Passing of the Gavel Ceremony" recognizing all of our esteemed Past Presidents. Herb was again saluted for his powerful impact on the association, the real estate profession and the communities we serve. As our only 3-term Past President, with leadership spanning decades, Herbert is the perfect symbol of leadership for RAMB ... and exactly the same age as the Association.
As we began plans for our upcoming 90th Anniversary celebration, Herb was to have been our Grand Marshall for the big event. He will always be our leader and friend and he and Jean are in our thoughts and in our hearts.
On behalf of all of his fellow Past Presidents, Association Leaders, 12,000 members, and RAMB Professionals, we wish to express our gratitude, admiration appreciation for all that Herb and Jean have done for us and the entire community. We will all continue to benefit from their leadership, dedication and commitment for many years to come.
With deepest respect and admiration,
Realtor Association of Greater Miami and the Beaches (RAMB)

I had the pleasure of knowing Herb for over 30 years. He was a real gentleman and a true professional but also a bit mischievous, quite the joker. I have so many fond memories of him, including Herb always parking his moped inside the Miami Board of Realtors offices on NW 7 Street. He and Jean were always great friends, and always being among the first to be there for you in good times and sad.. I’ll miss you, Herb but I'll always remember your smile and sense of humor. Jean, Barbara and Pat, my heart goes out to you and you family. Just know he’ll always be with you.

I cannot visualize a Miami without a Herbert Lee Simon. He was the guiding light in the early development of the Miami Board of Realtors. Herbert acquired and developed real estate making Miami a better place to live. In recent years I enjoyed seeing Herb lunching with family and friends at Gables Bagel. We will all miss Herb, with his friendly smile and good words. Rest in peace.
