Howard Sprechman Obituary
July 8, 1934 - July 26, 2023
Miami Beach, Florida - Howard Sprechman passed away in his sleep on the morning of July 26, 2023. Howard was born July 8, 1934 in Brooklyn New York, to a very poor family and made his way through pharmacy school by selling Popsicles in the park. He met his beloved wife, Ellen at a party when he was 18 and they started a beautiful life together, and were married for one month shy of 68 years.
Howard is survived by his beloved wife, Ellen, sons Steve and Kenny, Joan and Marcy, and the memory of his beloved daughter Melanie, who passed away when she was 16 years old. His grandchildren and their partners include Ryan, Lindsay and Mike, Sydney and Rigert, Jordy and Cliff, and Jamie and Jon.
Ellie and Howie moved to Miami Beach whereupon he started working at several drugstores, and then started Park Shore Pharmacy in Miami Shores, finally selling the Pharmacy to his partner 40 years later after it became the largest supplier of adult congregate living facilities in South Florida.
Ellie and Howie made a marvelous life together in South Florida, traveling all over the world with friends, so many friends, vacationing, and spending summers for 30 years in the south of France.
Ellie and Howie had a marvelous group of friends that were so close. They went square dancing. They had a mystery club. And they all had a good time!
Ellie and Howie were devoted to each other throughout their marriage. Our family believes that Howie would not have lived so long and so well without the devoted caregiving of Ellie, as well as his three devoted caretakers, Angel, Celia, and Cynthia.
The funeral will be at Lakeside Memorial Gardens Sunday July 30, 2023 at 11:30am. We will begin at the outdoor covered Chapel (with fans) right behind the office. Make a left after the office and it is on the right. Then we will move over to the plot for burial. Shiva will be Sunday afternoon at Golden Beach.

We knew and loved Howie for nearly 40 years, all the time we lived in Miami. He was an extraordinary husband to our dear friend Ellen, and he had a wonderful family that we enjoyed watching grow. He was a kind and caring friend to us, and we are grateful to have known him. We send our love and deepest sympathy to all of his dear ones, and we share your sadness at his passing.
