Irene "Rene" was an unselfish, generous best friend to my beloved mother, Jacque Jackson Melton, until her death 30 years ago. Irene stepped in as a surrogate mother to me and grandmother to my children for all of these years. She was there at my wedding, taking pictures and making an album; she was there showering my children with love and gifts for birthdays, holidays, etc; she was there sending thoughtful cards and packages the old fashioned way; she was there making memories at her time share each year with games of "go fish" and trips to Fun Spot. She spoiled them, as only a grandmother could. Her loss is felt deeply by all of us. We loved and adored her and she loved and adored us. We share your grief and are comforted with the thought that Jacque and Irene are together again, in the presence of the Lord Jesus Christ, commiserating about their wonderful grand-children.

She was a beautiful lady with a beautiful heart, so sorry to see she has left this earth so early. An awesome obit written by her talented son, she would be so proud, and of course so proud of the daughters too.
