nov 10th 2017.when i retired in 2005 i moved away and lost touch with larry.we both came on the dept the same year.we became close and he was the best friend i had on the dept.we rode together on and off for many years.He was the finest officer i ever had the exsperience to work wit.He loved being a police officer and refused to take the sgts test.He cared so much for people and always went that extra mile for those who needed his help.HE WAS ALSO able to lay down the law verbally an phyiscally when it was required.HE WAS A STAnd UP OFFICER WHO WOULD NEVER TURN IS BACK ON HIS FELLOW OFFICERS,NO MATTER WHAT THE CIRCUMSTANCE.WHEN I found out yesterday that he went with the lord my heart felt such a great loss.HE WAS A GREAT MAN AND FINE EXAMPLE TO OTHER OFFICERS.HE will always have a place in my heart.Im sorry it took so long to find out about his passing.i know the Lord will reward him greatly for all the love and committment he gave to his fellow citizens.Larry you will alsways have a place in my heart,Ty for being there all the times i needed you the most. your friend forever John Catanio

As an Assistant State Attorney I had several cases with Detective Bennett. He was an extremely dedicated Detective and an incredible guy! I was shocked and saddened to hear of his sudden passing. My condolences go out to his family. He will be missed!

I am a retired ASA who worked many cases with Det Bennett.
We always reminisced about NY and shared quite a few laughs. He was a terrific detective, and I'm so sorry that he won't enjoy retirement. My best to his family.
