Lois Truby Thompson Obituary

Lois Anne Truby Thompson

July 16, 1957 - March 6, 2024

South Miami, Florida - Lois Anne Truby Thompson, better known as Bookie, was born on July 16, 1957, in Stockholm, Sweden, and passed away on March 6, 2024, in her hometown of South Miami, Florida. Bookie was a bubbling fountain of vivacity with a personality that could light up any room.

Her sweet and loving nature endeared her to many, making her absence felt all the more profound. Bookie was a beloved mother to her children Daniel and Katie Thomspon and a doting grandmother to her granddaughter Elisabeth Thompson. She is survived by her mother Ann-Sofi Truby Montana and stepfather Daniel Montana, her brothers Frederick Sundin Truby, Henry Nicholas Truby, Christopher Nils Truby and their wives Adrianna Truby, Lisa Truby, and Cornelia Truby, along with her sister Susanne Prudence Truby.

Bookie's legacy is one of kindness, love, and the value of time spent with loved ones. She enjoyed the beach, the smell of the ocean, and had a passion for rescuing animals. She loved playing tennis during her time at Paris Junior College. She lived out her dream career as a flight attendant for Air Florida and continued her mother's legacy by teaching children to swim at Ann Truby's Swim School. Bookie's musical talents were shared with many during her time as a singer in New Directions. Her favorite band was Chicago, often humming their tunes while going about her daily activities. This passion was just another expression of her joyful nature.

Bookie was preceded in death by her sister, Gunilla Elisabeth Truby, whose memories she held close to her heart, and her father Dr. Henry Mayer Truby.

We invite all those who loved Bookie to pay their last respects and celebrate her beautiful life on April 6, 2024, at noon at South Miami Lutheran Church. Let us remember Bookie, not for her end, but for a life well lived, a song beautifully sung, and the love she spread around. Her life was a perfect melody that will never fade away.

I remember visits with Anne to her grandmother´s house in Paris, Texas & the bench where we "sat up straight ". Also had a wonderful time & great memories with Anne from our trip to Florida. She showed us around & we visited her family & home where she grew up. We were roommates at Paris Junior College & friends for almost 50 years. She will be missed! Prayers for Daniel, Katie, her mom and all of the Truby family.

We have known "Bookie" for over 50 years. She was such a pleasant and important member of the group sponsoring the annual Lucia celebration at her home. Good memories.
Rest in Peace Bookie.

We go back a long way. From swim instructor, to Facebook friends, and life and loss in between. She was a sweet soul. Knowing her was a joy.
My deepest sympathy to the family. I know you have suffered a great loss.
