Rene became our "biker babe" at the Rotary Club of Miami. When I was coordinating our annual fundraiser, my idea was to raffle off a Harley. One of the guys in the club, a graphic designer, suggested we have a poster with an "unlikely" person sitting on the bike - to encourage the fantasy of anyone could own/ride a motorcycle. He suggested Rene. Obviously he didn't know Rene (nor did I)! When she arrived for the photo shoot, and we were chatting, she asked "why" she had been chosen. I didn't know her well, and certainly didn't want to say "because you seem to be the most unlikely!", so made up some acceptable answer. Her response? Oh, I thought it was because my daughter and I were power boat racers/champions. Little did I know! She taught me a valuable lesson - never make assessments based on outer appearances. Who would have thought underneath this petite, perfectly coiffed, polite, beautifully dressed lady was such an adventurous soul. Ride on Rene! You will be missed.

Rene was a wonderful Rotarian I enjoyed every Thursday at noon until her stroke ended her attendance. She was a delightful story teller, and an inspiration to women everywhere. I have missed her and will continue to miss her.

I am signing for my dad, I know he will miss her and so will I. I worked for her while I was going to school. She was a very sweet and caring person. Our condolences to the family.
