Marcia Ludwig Obituary

LUDWIG, MARCIA VALIBUS, passed away 11/20/17 among family & friends. Born 3/5/38, (Minersville) PA, she moved to Miami in '43, where she lived her life. Marcia graduated Miami High '56, and was a popular teen model. Her beauty won many titles including: Kiwanis Queen '56, Tempo Cover Girl '56, Miss Miami Beach '56, U of M Homecoming Queen '57, Orange Bowl Queen '58, Miss Florida '58, 1st Runner-up Miss USA. A Delta Gamma (BT), at U of M, she was contracted by Paramount Studios. In '60, Marcia married Robert P. Ludwig Jr. Her hobbies included bridge & backgammon tournaments. As an ACBL Life Master bridge player, she played for decades at the Surf, Indian Creek and Miami Shores Clubs. She was a proud member of the Fat Cats social club. Marcia is survived by (son) Robert P Ludwig III, (grandsons) Robert, Ryan & Riley, (Sister) Dana Phillips, (Nephews) Peter & Edward Phillips, (Nieces) Lee Brantley & Vanessa Walker. Marcia's funeral mass is January 13, 2018, 11am, St. Patrick's Church Miami Beach.

Marcia was my best friend snd I think I was hers in 6..7..8..9 grades at William Jennings Bryan and Edward L Constance High in 1949..1950...1951 but we always remained "connected"
She was a beautiful and loving soul...
Even in her last months we had a phone conversation..
So enjoyed her 50th Birthday at LaGorce..
She had many accolades..
But to me will always be my cherished childhood friend

Marcia was a beautiful person inside and out, she was my Mother's cousin, and well loved by our family.I will miss her cards and notes that she use to send me after my Mother's death. Rest in peace.

I met Marcia in the third grade when the family moved to Miami. The elementary school, Orange Glade,is no longer there. But the memories linger. She was beautiful then and remained so all her life. My sympathy to her family. I know she will be missed. Susan Knight Kelley

My love and condolences to Robert and family. Marcia was my next door neighbor for nearly two decades. She was beautiful, smart, fun, and a great friend. She had the ability to light up every room. I am so sad to read of her passing. She will be missed by everyone who knew her.

Get excited, it's Marcia. How we loved your phone messages/calls. You were SO much more than your obit, omitting your zest for life, enthusiasm, courage, wit, kindness, generosity, loyalty, humor, humility, style, an ability to make anyone smile, and a certain way with words. Such a beautiful being inside and out: a beauty queen with the best legs ever! Yes, Miss Florida in 1958, placing second in Miss USA.
Your friends served as your true family this last decade; you had so many loyal friends. I am grateful you were like a big sister to me in FL and as your FatCat guest. You were such good company, and an inspiration to see you power through when it was just good enough. Glad you called days before, and shared a fun wkend at our home a few months ago. Missing your service, but you'll always be in our hearts; your fabulous gifts in my closet and throughout our FL home are cherished reminders. Well, Honey...
