Arthur Holden Obituary

Obituary published on Legacy.com by St. John's Family Funeral Home & Crematory on Mar. 30, 2026.
Arthur Irving "Art" Holden, 80, of St. Augustine, Florida, passed away peacefully on March 21, 2026, at Haven Hospice Roberts Care Center in Palatka, Florida. Art fought a courageous, long battle with Lewy Body Dementia.

Arthur was born and raised in Miami, Florida, to the late Dr. Allen and Mary Holden. He graduated in 1963 from Hialeah High School and went on to attend the University of Miami. He proudly served his country in the United States Air Force active duty and continued his service in the reserves for over 20 years. During his military career, he worked as a medic and laboratory manager.

Arthur built a successful career as the owner and operator of a chemical analysis company in Miami. Demonstrating his lifelong commitment to learning, he later earned his bachelor's degree in Environmental Studies from Florida International University in the 1984.

In 1996, Arthur met the love of his life, Eileen, and they were married on May 1, 1998. In 2007, they moved to St. Augustine to be closer to their grandchildren. Art was known for his quiet strength, dry humor and devotion to family.

Art had a deep appreciation for the outdoors and his hobbies included sailing, gardening, model trains, and bird watching. He was a devoted member of Grace United Methodist Church and generously gave his time volunteering as a patient transporter at Flagler Hospital.

He is survived by his wife, Eileen Holden; daughters, Nicole Kalil (Jose), Kimberly Prouty (Kevin); stepchildren, Debi Foster (Douglas), Jimmy Jones (Kathleen) and Joy Case (Michael); brother, Allen Holden (Betty) 13 grandchildren and 6 great grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his parents and brother, Robert Holden.

A celebration of life will be held at 1pm on Sunday, April 12, 2026 at St Johns Family Funeral Home.
