Maria FRANCO Obituary

FRANCO, MARIA (Maruja) VI¥AS Maruja passed away suddenly on December 1st, 2016 at the age of 68 with her family at her side in Miami, Florida. She is survived by her brothers, sisters, in-laws, nieces, nephews grandnieces, grandnephews, aunts, uncles, and cousins. Maruja was born on December 29th in Santiago de Cuba. She was predeceased by her parents, Jose Antonio Franco and Oella Vi¤as. She loved sports, playing basketball for her high school, Instituto Pedag¢gico Cat¢lico in Cuba. After leaving Cuba and coming to the United States, she was a life-long employee of BellSouth/AT&T, serving 42 years. A very social person, Maruja could frequently be seen at Larios, Versailles, and especially La Carreta, where she admired all of the handsome police officers. She loved to travel, mostly to Disney World with her best friend Julie, where they were greeted by name by many of the staff. She was a very special person who will always be remembered for her kindness, generosity, and love for her family and friends. Funeral Mass will be held at St. Timothy Catholic Church, 5400 SW 102nd Avenue, Miami, FL on December 7th at 11:00 am followed by Interment at Our Lady of Mercy Catholic Cemetery, 11411 NW 25th Street, Miami, FL.
