MARILYN BOMBARD Obituary

BOMBARD, MARILYN "LYNNE" MASSMANN Lake Placid, Florida Surrounded by her husband, daughters and granddaughter, Lynne went to heaven on July 4th after a long and wonderful life. She was born on March 7th, 1938 to Paul and Carolyn Massmann in Jamaica, New York. Her family later moved to Chicago, IL, where her father was the Director of Exhibits at the Museum of Science and Industry. Lynne regaled her family with many stories about growing up in that city; stories of piano lessons with her Aunt Magdalen Massmann and believing that the Colleen Moore's Fairy Castle belonged to her and her sister Marcia. Her family later moved to Washington D.C., Lake Wales, FL and then to Miami, FL. Lynne's passion for nursing began as a high school student when she was a nurse's aide at Mercy Hospital. In 1956, she graduated from the Notre Dame Academy for Girls in Miami, FL and attended nursing school at the Kapiolani Technical School in Honolulu, Hawaii earning her Practical Nursing degree. Her first nursing position was at Queen's Hospital in Hawaii. In 1962, she returned to Miami working at North Shore Hospital, American Hospital and Coral Reef Hospital. To continue her nursing career she enrolled in Miami Dade Community College and obtained her Associates in Science as a Registered Nurse in 1984. During her tenure, she became the head nurse of the Outpatient Department at Coral Reef Hospital. Lynne left the hospital aspect of nursing to become a case manager for transplant patients at Blue Cross and Blue Shield of Florida. She retired from nursing in 2005. On October 12, 1963, Lynne married William Bombard, her best friend and love of her life. During their 48 years of marriage, Lynne and Bill saw the world together, traveling throughout the United States, Europe, and the Mediterranean. They raised three daughters and reveled in the accomplishments of their six grandchildren. Relocating to Lake Placid, Florida in 2009, they became active members of the American Legion, Placid Post 25. In addition to her many accomplishments as wife, mother and nurse, Lynne loved to read and attend the theatre. Lynne is survived by her loving husband, William Bombard of Lake Placid, FL and daughters, Sharon Bowen(James) of Cocoa, FL; Pamela Regula (Ronald) of Miami, FL; and Diane Johnson of Miami, FL. In addition, her sister Marcia Skipper (Jack) of Miami, FL; grandsons Clifton Blaylock, Ronnie Regula, Robbie Regula and Danny Bowen;granddaughters , Holli Lynne Salazar and SavannahLynne Bowen; her nieces, Gail Skipper and Bethany Skipper; and nephew Jack Skipper. Lynne will be greatly missed by her family and friends. Bill and family I am so sorry to hear about Lynne. I'm sure you don't remember me but I sure remember you guys. I was a teenager when I meet all of you at Chuck and Micky's building the leaning wall addition. Some how we always ended the day across the street at bill and Lynne's having a good time. No matter whet was going on at chuck's working on cars, pulling engines with the old ficus tree or just hanging around we ended up at your place. Manny times the party would still be going strong when Lynne left for the night shift and sometimes still going when she came home.
I'm sure Lynne and Chuck are tossing one back Looking down at us.
