Maruta "Marti" Mang

1938 - 2025

Marti Mang, a long-time resident of Pembroke Pines, Florida, passed away peacefully on Sunday, October 12, 2025, at the age of 87. Born on October 10, 1938, in Riga, Latvia, Marti's early life was shaped by the upheavals of World War II, spending four years in a displaced persons camp in Germany before immigrating to the United States in 1948. Marti thrived in the vibrant culture of 1950s America and later attended Colorado College, earning a degree in Mathematics. She married Blaine Kay Sanderson in 1961 and raised four children. In 1972, she became the sole provider for her family, working multiple jobs. In 1974, she married Richard Mang. Her determination led her into banking, where she rose through the ranks during a time when few women held leadership roles. She earned her Executive Master's Degree from Georgia State University in 1988 and ultimately became a Senior Vice President in Commercial Lending at TotalBank and later City National Bank. Marti was deeply involved in CREW-Miami - where she served as president in 2016 - and the Marietta Civitan Club. She was passionate about mentoring professionals, supporting women's prison ministries, and hosting international student-athletes. Her life was marked by joy and tireless energy. From singing with MAGIC at Advent Lutheran Church to participating in book clubs, cruises, and daily investment webinars, Marti remained curious and engaged throughout her life. She was preceded in death by her husbands Richard H. Mang and Blaine K. Sanderson; her parents Adolfs and Velta Gravitis; and her son Stuart Scott Sanderson. Marti is survived by her sister Anda Schaaf; children Blaine Sanderson (Robin), Chris Sanderson, and Alana Sanderson Artzer; grandchildren, nieces, nephews, stepchildren, and great-grandchildren. Services will be held Sunday, October 19th at Fred Hunters Funeral Home, 6301 Taft St, Hollywood, FL at 10:00 a.m. A suggestion for a donation in her memory would be: kairosprisonministry.org.
