She married Grant Ostlund, general contractor, and lived in Denver during WWII; Miami, where they raised five children; St. Armand's (Lido Key); and, after her husband's death in 1997, Bradenton. In 2009, she moved to Palm Beach Gardens and most recently to Homestead. A well-known artist working in pastels, pen, colored pencils, oil and acrylics, Mary's art was displayed throughout the eastern part of the U.S. She was a member of the American Pastel Society and taught art in Coral Gables, Long Boat Key, Bradenton, and Sun City. Mary and her husband were active volunteers at their children's schools and in their many after school activities (dance, band, cheerleading, sports, service and leadership clubs, Girl & Boy Scouts). A lifelong Episcopalian, she was an active member of Ruge Hall, FSCW, Tallahassee; St. Jude's, Miami; Holy Cross, Miami; and St. Thomas, Coral Gables. She is survived by her children: Dana (Roger), Karin, Mary, Holly, and Grant (Claudia); her grandson, Grant; her siblings: Betty, Suzanne, Rebecca and Robert (Tallulah); and also step-grandchildren, nieces, nephews and extended family. A memorial service will be held for family at All Angels by the Sea Episcopal Church, Long Boat Key, where her ashes will be buried next to her husband's.
