MELVIN THOMAS

THOMAS, MELVIN, born to Mose Thomas and Louise Coleman Thomas on February 8, 1949, in Americus, GA. He passed away on September 15,2011, due to injuries from an automobile accident. He was a graduate of 1967 class of Douglass Senior High School in Montezuma, GA. He briefly attended Fort Valley State College, a decision that proved momentous, as it is where he met his to-be wife, Mary Katherine Milton. Being business-minded from a very early age, he championed Thomas Maintenance Services, Inc., a corporation that through the years, touched on the lives of many, including friends, family members, and hundreds of others throughout the United States, but mostly in the South Florida community. He was dedicated to helping others, always working hard for his family and ready to lend a hand to anybody in need. He will mostly be remembered for his sense of humor that seemed to enliven everybody he crossed paths with. Melvin Thomas is survived by his wife, Mary "Kat" Thomas, his two children, Marcus and Miles Thomas, sisters Gwen Thomas and Marion Street of Cordele, GA, Helen Young of New Jersey, and Stephanie Thomas of Rochester, NY; brothers Johnny (Lois) Thomas of Chesapeake, VA, Abraham Thomas of Rochester, NY and Carnell (Marilyn) Thomas of Orange, NJ; and godson Dwight Green, Jr. He is also survived by a host of other relatives and friends.
