Michael Herron Obituary
Michael "Mickey" Herron
October 25, 1940 - July 12, 2025
Scottsdale, Arizona - Michael "Mickey" Herron was born in Chicago, IL on October 25, 1940 and passed away on July 12, 2025 in Scottsdale, AZ. At six years old, his family moved to Miami Beach, FL, where he spent an idyllic childhood retaining those fond memories throughout his life. He graduated from Miami Beach Senior High and later, the University of Florida where he was a TEP. Mickey then attended the University of Miami Law School. His legal career was briefly interrupted by a stint in the U.S. Coast Guard Reserve, where he served as a Resident Legal Officer. Following that military commitment, he enjoyed practicing law for many years from his Miami Beach offices.
In 1984, he and his wife Isabel (Reiss) moved to Aspen, CO. Mickey continued practicing law there and was a solo practitioner before joining the law firm of Garfield & Hecht. Mickey and Isabel thoroughly immersed themselves in the community. Mickey loved riding his Harleys through the mountains and they both embraced the incomparable beauty of the Rockies, its outdoor activities, and the unique Aspen lifestyle.
In 2001, the Herrons moved to Scottsdale and joined Pinnacle Peak Country Club. Mickey continued practicing law and became General Counsel for a public company, a position he enjoyed greatly. Always a voracious reader, in retirement he spent his time relaxing in the sun, book in hand, golfing, driving his convertibles, and bike riding. At day's end, a cigar and martini awaited. Throughout his life, Mickey had multiple dogs and cats whom he adored and pampered.
Mickey was a loving husband and a loyal friend. He possessed a quick mind and witty sense of humor. His passing leaves a tremendous void in the lives of his beloved Isabel, with whom he shared an adventurous 51 years, as well as his sister-in-law, Marlene Reiss, cousins Bob Daskal (Joy), Jeffrey Sklan (Elyse), Toni Meltzer, cherished dogs, and countless friends and acquaintances. He will be missed dearly and always.
A memorial celebrating Mickey's life will be held in the fall in Scottsdale. Donations in his memory to any animal organization of your choice would be most appreciated.
