Michael Horowitz Obituary

Bal Harbour, Florida - HOROWITZ, MICHAEL ELLIOT, 76, of Bal Harbour, FL, passed away on February 22, 2024 at his home in Bal Harbour. Born November 14, 1947 in Belmar, NJ, son of David and Doris Horowitz, and brother of Bonnie Horowitz.
He attended the University of Miami (FL) for undergraduate as well as the UM Miller School of Medicine, graduating in 1973. Michael went on to practice internal medicine in Miami Beach and Aventura for over 45 years. He married Carolyn [Alter] Horowitz in 1975 and had two beautiful children with her, sons Jeffrey and Gregory Horowitz. Michael was remarried in 2000 to Judith Kratze.
A career-long physician, Dr. Michael Horowitz practiced medicine in South Florida from 1975 until he retired in 2021 at the age of 73.
He was laid to rest at Montefiore Cemetery in Queens, NY
The fond and loving memories I have of my "Dear Old Dad" will forever live in my heart.

I loved mr horowitz ge helped my family and myself at his 41 st location and aventura for years.

We were actually just the two of us. We were going to do San Francisco again, underground, fun, and route. We were as close as two brothers can be. I never lost a spouse, but I see and feel what it would be like. I was thinking of you, my dearest friend.

Michael and I have been the closest of friends from Miami Norland High School through our buddy ship in the Grove and all through his medical and my psychology school, getting our degrees !963-the last week together, I probably have the last text he ever sent don't know how many years we shared Friendships are not measured in years but in closeness. We were best friends, and you will remain in my heart and mind forever; I love you, Michael (in a manly way), and rest in peace, my friend. You have changed lives and saved the lives of thousands. I remember one night, a couple of weeks after I moved back to Miami in 2018, I ran into my Dad at Publix, just as the store was closing. We walked up and down the grocery aisles and talked about the upcoming (2018) FL elections. My dad was a huge fan of Ron DeSantis. We continued our conversation in the empty parking lot, long after the store closed for the night. Dad texted me an hour later and said how much he loved how he and I can literally talk about anything, and how great it was to have me back in South Florida after my 2 years in Los Angeles. Very rarely had I ran into my dad on days like that, but when I did, it was always so great to see him.

I enjoyed the company of Dr. Horowitz. He would come into my office for glasses and adjustments. He was wonderful to speak with. He always had knowledge to share. My heart breaks for his family and friends. I am so sorry for the loss of a lovely man.
