My heart goes out to Biti's beloved family. He was generous, kind, wise, enthusiastic, youthful, classy and funny. We were close in high school and reconnected six years ago. We had many long phone conversations over those years, as I live in Chicago, and I was blessed to have had a meaningful conversation with him two weeks ago. He adored and loved to share stories about Erika and Nina, the great loves of his life. Biti was loved and admired for being himself with everyone he met: accepting, genuine, energetic and someone who embraced life to the fullest. I know your pain is boundless and I hope you find solace in knowing that he made the world a better place.

We got to know the wonderful Diaz brothers through Footworks, races and our own 5000 Methodist Meters. Octavio was a sweet man and a true competitor I raced with in 5K races. We haven't seen him in years but have fond memories. He had a great personality and smile, and will be missed. Lon and Carol Lazzeri

Octabio and Eddie were two brothers who were a force of nature in road races. And, you always enjoyed seeing them, before, during and after races. May he rest in piece now that his running shoes have been hung up for good. My condolences to his family, friends, and admirers.

I first met Octavio when we came together @ Tenneco Packaging from two companies merging. Although I haven't seen or talked to him in almost 20 years, I always knew Octavio was a very special guy. You will be missed.
