MENACHEM PEARL HERBERT, 89, passed away on April 24, 2003. Her beloved husband, Louis Menachem, and son, Neal Menachem, preceded her in death. Louis and Pearl lived in Woodmere, New York, and moved to Miami in 1972. She was born July 16, 1913, and would have been 90 years old this year. Pearl is survived by her brother, Marvin Herbert; daughter-in-law, Barbara Menachem; grandchildren, Andrew, Fred and Seth Menachem and Mara Menachem- Karlinsky; great grandchildren, Jackson Menachem and Neal Karlinsky; and dear friend and caretaker, Wilna DesHommes. In her early years, Pearl was very proud to be an officer on the Board of Directors of the American Jewish Congress, a civil rights organization defending the liberties of all Americans. Pearl had many friends and enjoyed reading, engaging in conversations about politics, popular culture and economics. She was highly intelligent and maintained her independent spirit to the end. Interment will be in New York where she will be buried next to her late husband, Louis. There will be a memorial service in Miami on Tuesday evening, April 29th, at the home of Barbara Menachem.
