PETER W. ROBERTS

1952 - 2017

ROBERTS, PETER W., of Miami Gardens, FL passed away peacefully at the University of Miami Hospital on January 14,2017 with his family by his side. Peter fought his 14 month battle with pancreatic cancer with the class, character, determination, passion and grace in which he lived his life. Peter was born in Lawrence, MA May 6, 1952 to Walter and Dorothy Roberts. He attended Lawrence public schools and was a 1970 graduate of Lawrence High School. He was all-scholastic and a three sport captain in football, basketball and baseball. He received the Craig Medal which is given to the top student-athlete at LHS. He was also an avid golfer and especially proud of getting a hole in one, twice. He was passionate about all sports and a huge fan of the Dolphins, Marlins and Hurricanes. He attended the University of Rhode Island where received a football scholarship. He received a BA and MBA from Florida Atlantic University. He relocated to Florida in 1986 and began his multi-faceted 31 year career at Goodwill Industries of South Florida where he most recently was Senior Vice President of Business Services. He valued family and friends and was a true gentleman to all. His deep respect for others and his desire to help those in need was unsurpassed. Peter is survived by his wife and best friend of more than 30 years Roxanna Ridgeway. He is also survived by siblings Gary Roberts and wife Suzanne of St. Johnsbury, VT, Thomas Roberts and wife Joanne of Methuen, MA, Wendy Roberts of Punta Banda, Mexico, twin sister Gail Roberts of Methuen, MA, Susan Bonacorsi of Methuen, MA, Tricia Roberts of Hampstead, NH., mother in-law Marina Gomez, and sisters in-law Maria Teresa Lopez and husband Guillermo, and Celina Gomez. Peter was pre-deceased by his parents and his brother Walter Robe s Peter is also survived by god-daughter Amy Roberts Talerico and several nieces and nephews. Funeral services will be held Tuesday January 17th at 1:00 at Vista Funeral Home 14200 NW 57th Avenue, Miami Lakes, FL 33014. Visiting hours will be held from 9:00 12:30 at the funeral home.
