Phyllis Yaffa Obituary

Phyllis Yaffa
November 7, 1941 - January 21, 2022
Miami, Florida - Phyllis Pollack Yaffa, 80 years young, of Miami, Florida peacefully passed away in the arms of her loving family on January 21, 2022 due to complications from COVID-19.
Despite a myriad of health ailments, she fought mightily for the last fifteen plus years never losing her grace and positivity. Her class, wit, kindness and wisdom were ever-present to those who knew her. Friends, family, acquaintances and even strangers touched by her light felt immense warmth and love. She instilled a sense of family, honor, and integrity that was palpable.
While attending the University of Richmond, Phyllis found her lifetime love in her husband, Dr. Jack B. Yaffa. They were married fifty-seven wonderful years and together raised four children: Andy (Romy), Sam, Jodi (Ryan Kuhl), and Greg. Phyllis cherished quality time with her ten incredible grandchildren: Ryan, Garrett, Hailey, Amanda, Meghan, Samantha, Matthew, Nicole, Logan and Dylan. Through this lineage, her legacy will forever live on. She is truly the heart and core of the Yaffa family. The void she leaves behind will never be filled. May her memory be a blessing to all who had the privilege of knowing and loving her.
A graveside celebration of life is scheduled for Tuesday, January 25th, 2022 at Star of David Memorial Gardens and Funeral Chapel (7701 Bailey Road, North Lauderdale FL) at 2:45pm. For those who are unable to attend, a Zoom link will be provided. Donations in honor of Phyllis P. Yaffa can be made to Margaux's Miracle Foundation.
The family wishes to extend special recognition and heartfelt gratitude to Dr. Stacey Castanes and Dr. Peter Citron who were primarily responsible for Phyllis's extended survival. Further, tremendous thanks to Ursula, Remona and Dorothy who showed great love, compassion and care until the very end.

Remembering Phyllis with much love from our days at the Bet Shira minyan and from volunteering at Recording for the Blind and Dyslexic. She was one of the most delightful people I ever met and it was such a pleasure to know her. May her memory be a blessing to her family and to all of us who had the privilege of being in her company.
