Rudy,

I hope you like the short stories I left for you. I am sure you will be smoking them in Heaven and if not, at least you will have a light! My Brother, from Khoury League to Columbus to working together, you truly became my man, with uncanny wisdom on what is truly important, FAMILY! Life like a good at Bat, you showed me how to take a pitch and wait for the right one. You also showed me how to swing away. You did Rudy and you hit it out of the Park. As I uncork a fine Red, and smoke a great smoke, you will always remain in my thoughts. I cheer to who you were, the memory of who you are, which lives in your family which will hold you in their hearts forever!

Maggie,
A team you were, Rudy and you. You had a rapport that was rivaled by no one. I learned how to honor my mother, as Rudy held you higher than anyone, it was proven everyday of his life. I will honor his memory by holding you up in the same regard. You have taken me under your wing and I am honored to share every moment learning the lessons you undoubtably gave to Rudy. I will remember him every day I know you. I am in his and your debt and will be at your service with love. Rudy, Smoke them if you got them!

Dear Nattie & The Garmendia Family,

In this time in which both of our families are in pain as a huge void has been left I find myself here having to write about my brother who took me under his wing and turned me into a man. With so many things that can be said about him the one word that will put all my feelings together is " RUDY ". That name alone speaks volumes and is endless. If there is one thing that this tragedy has helped me learn it is that I am the most lucky brother in the world Nattie to have you and Cris as my sisters. Although I can never fill the role that Rudy left behind as a father, I can pass on what Rudy taught me onto Nicholas and A.J. about what being a man is. As for Carolina she will know that her father helped make our family who we are.

Rudy, there will never be a day brother that goes by that I won't miss you or remember your bigger than life presence. So as life goes on with you looking over all of us I have chosen to be thankful for the 22 years I did spend with you rather than be upset for the time we all feel you had left. Thank You for having treated my sister the way you did for all those years, and Thank You for having always been there for me anytime I needed.

You truly were " The Man "

Your Brother,

Anthony A. Florido aka " T "

Dear Nico, Natty, AJ, Caro, and all those who Rudy loved most,
My heart goes out to all of you. Your dad, husband, son, uncle, brother, friend was a very special man. I will never forget seeing him every morning in the halls of STA or the cafeteria, doing what he did best: being a great father and husband and in the process, making everyone laugh. Know that since I found out there has not been a day I don't pray for you all; nor will I stop. This was the only way I could get a hold of you all...We do not know why such a horrible thing happened....Such a great person taken away too young; but what Rudy accomplished at such a young age, few do over an endless amount of time. It doesn't make it easier, but it can certainly make you proud.
All my love and prayers go out to you all, Nicki Aranguren

Maggi and Naty,
I cannot begin to understand the deep pain in your hearts while I feel the pain in mine. Both of you must know that I, too, lost a son when we lost Rudy. I'm thankful that I told him often that I loved him. I also told him that, to me, he was the perfect man…he was the perfect boyfriend to Naty…the perfect fiancé…the perfect husband…the perfect father…the perfect son (in-law). He’d say, “thank you man.”

Maggi and Naty, the empty feeling of his loss will never go away, but I hope and pray that God is merciful and soon eases your pain.

What moves through us is silence, a quiet sadness, a longing for one more day, one more touch, we may not understand why you left this earth so soon, or before you were ready to say goodbye but little by little we begin to remember not that you died but that you lived and that your life gave us memories to beautiful to forget. To Maggie Sr/Jr, Yvonne, Rodolfo Sr and his wife Natti and children and the entire family my sincere condolences and prayers.

Naty,
We have been remembering all the years we spent with you and Rudy, when you were both kids. We have been thinking of all the good times we had together with the Hurst Softball team and all the travelling we shared as a family. Words can not express the pain we feel for you and your entire family. Rudy was a "bigger than life" person and he will always be remembered as such. He was a very special friend to Jairo and we both feel like we saw you guys grow up before our eyes. We are both very proud of the family and love, you and Rudy shared. We know that you have an Angel that will guide you along life and help you during this difficult time.
We love you dearly and want you to know that we are here for you for anything you may need, even if thats just a friendly shoulder to cry on. God bless you always.
With all our love,
Jairo and Lily Gomez

Nattie, Nico, AJ, Carolina, and the rest of the Garmendia family,
There are no words to say at this time, just those to let you know how much you are loved and thought of. It was an honor and a privilege to have had Rudy come into our lives. His energetic personality has, and will continue to, leave an impact in our lives. He was, and is, a role model for Rafy, our son. It goes without saying that we are here to serve you and your family in whatever way it is needed. Our hearts pour out to you...
