Ruth Braddock Obituary
December 2, 1923 - August 24, 2024
Miami, Florida - Ruth Fenner Braddock, WWII veteran, educator, and women's activist, died peacefully on Aug. 24th, 2024 at age 100. Born in Binghamton, NY, she moved to Miami after the war. Ruth was honored as a Woman of Impact by the Women's History Coalition of Miami-Dade County. She was the co-founder and president of Herstory of Florida, which published 3 books documenting the contributions of Miami women. Ruth fought the good fight for passage of the Equal Rights Amendment. She aided in promoting integration in the American Association of University Women and elsewhere. Ruth spent decades teaching kids and adults how to swim. She was a devout Christian and long-time member of Old Cutler Presbyterian Church. Ruth exuded warmth, generosity, selflessness, and unwavering kindness. She was always ready to offer help and support without hesitation to family and friend alike. She was the matriarch and heart of the family. Ruth is survived by her 3 children- George, Jim, and Becca. Son Bob is deceased; 8 Grandchildren; & 13 Great-Grandchildren. The family thanks the caregivers and staff at Eastridge Retirement Village. A Celebration of Life will be held on Saturday, Sep. 7th, 2024 at 2 pm at Old Cutler Presbyterian Church: 14401 Old Cutler Rd, Palmetto Bay.
