Ruth Long Putney

PUTNEY, RUTH LONG Ruth Long Putney, 88, of Cooper City, FL, died on Monday, August 26, 2013. She was the wife of the Rev. Dr. Everett Putney. She was born in Greentown, IN, on August 9, 1925, the daughter of the late Everett Ashby Long and Gertrude Alice Brooke Long. She was a graduate of Asbury College in Wilmore, KY. She married Everett Putney on August 9, 1948 in Greentown, IN. She was a member of New Horizon United Methodist Church, where she served as organist for 15 years. Surviving, in addition to her husband of 65 years, are children Dawn Newton of Central, Dr. Nathan Putney and wife Brenda of Appomattox, VA, and Deanna Tegen and husband Charles of Central; a brother, David Long of Greentown, IN; seven grandchildren and two great-grandchildren. A memorial service will be held at New Horizon United Methodist Church in Southwest Ranch, FL on Wednesday, August 28, at 3:00 pm.
