Sydney Traum Obituary
January 6, 1938 - March 6, 2024
Coral Gables, Florida - Syd Traum was born in Brooklyn, NY to Morris and Ida Traum. He earned a BBA degree from CCNY's Baruch School of Business (now Baruch College), a JD degree from Harvard Law School, and an LLM degree in Taxation from NYU Law School.
He moved to Coral Gables in 1968, and was a pillar of our society. He was a tax lawyer, CPA and author of two books on taxation of subchapter S corporations. He was certified by the Florida Bar in both Corporate Taxes and in Estate Planning, Probate, Wills and Trusts. He served as president of the American Association of Attorney CPAs, The Florida Chapter of the Attorney CPAs, Beth David Congregation, and served as a board member of several other professional and charitable groups. He was a favored speaker for both State and National Bar and CPA organizations. Syd was very skilled at finding creative solutions to difficult problems and finding ways for people holding diverse opinions to agree on accptable solutions.
Sydney S. Traum passed away March 6, 2024. He is survived by his wife Judith Rood Traum, his children David Traum (Shirley), Jonathan Traum (Shani) and Elisheva Traum Rogoff (Michael) and grandchildren Shoshana, Yosef, Elan Traum and Mitch, Jared, Natanya Rogoff.
Funeral services took place Sunday, March 10 at Beth David Congregation.
Donation in his honor can be made to the Center for Jewish Life at Beth David, American Jewish Comittee, or your favorite charity, since he supported many other causes.

So sorry to hear of Syd´s passing. I worked with him for many years while on staff at the FL Institute of CPAs, especially with the Federal Tax Committee. He was clever, humorous and a gentleman at all times. The profession respected his leadership and expertise, and was always a pleasure to work with. He was one of a kind and will surely be missed.
