Ted Place Obituary

PLACE, DR. TED, May 7, 1924 - September 30, 2005 The dynamic South Florida minister that touched so many lives over the past four decades, passed into eternity, and into the presence of his Lord on Friday, September 30, 2005. Pat, Ted's wife, best friend, and ministry partner for 58 years, was at his bedside, as well as his Children, BJ Behnken (Fred), Chris Pierce (Jim), and Ted III. Dr. Ted also leaves behind seven grandchildren: Matt Behnken, Erik Bakken (Oriana), Heidi Brasher (Joel), Chad Watson (Christie), James Pierce III (Liz), Tana Pierce, and Jocelyn Place, as well as four great-grandchildren; Lorelei & Jolie Bakken, and Andrew & Caleb Watson. Ted's sister, Elly Beharka also survives him, as well as numerous extended family members. A Celebration of Life will be held in memorial for Dr. Ted Place, Saturday, Oct 15th - 10:00am, Christ Fellowship Church, 8900 SW 168th St., Miami, Florida. I miss you so much, Ted & Pat. I loved your Sunday school classes at Perrine that you taught a few years before you passed away. Your enthusiasm in your teaching was contagious. miss those beautiful days. Tommy wasn´t the pastor anymore then & the church had to go & change for the times. I thank God for you, Ted, and for Pat. Thank you both for briefly being in my life. I can not wait for the big reunion! Love, Denise Rudloff. You & Tommy & Molly, were the best educators of our God. Our Jesus. The Holy Spirit. I´m so thankful for the Perrine Baptist church of my childhood.

When Tim and I were in our twenties we were members of Faith Bible Church. We met in a school. I remember driving in the rain with two babies. Tim was on a trip. I prayed for God to help me find church. I drove up to this school where we met. In the few years we were there Dr Ted and precious Pat and their son Ted III ( was young then), blessed us with Bible sermons that made Gods Word coming alive!!! He also preached on Jesus coming back. And look at us now!!! I´ll forever remember this family as being wise and kind and so helpful to young couple from the rural farm in Mississippi.

Dr Ted was a big influence on me
As a student in youth ministry at MCC. I was a new Christian and he gave me the vision of the
School campus was a 40 acre mission and that´s the way I did
ministry what a great man. My girlfriend at the time also new Dr Ted when she was a little girl because he was a family friend and said as a little girl " I want to
Marry Ted", and she did me. Mrs Place and Dr Ted did our pre-marital counseling so good.

Several weeks ago in a lesson at school, we were reading about sea turtles. I told my student I knew a man who could ride into shore on the back of one of those giants!

Many years ago as teenagers we were all down at the beach when Ted Place jumped on the back of an incoming turtle. Unforgettable, but even more memorable, was the laughing, fun-filled life of a man sold out to the Lord, lived daily in front of us all. Thank you, Ted Place!

I knew Ted as a kid in Detroit when he was with Youth for Christ there.

When I moved to Florida, he was in Florida as well and counseled me one time years ago, nothing major, just encouraged me in my walk. I had the privilege of teaching his grandkids, Heidi and Chad. My condolences to his family, but with the joy and assurance that we will see Ted again.

Ted holds a special place in my heart. Many years ago, when I was a teen, he was in charge of Campus Life, YFC. His talks, his actions, and everything he did, he did with a purpose and that was to show us wild, crazy and wayward teens what and why God wanted to be in our lives. He truly helped me understand the Lord and his plan He had for me. Ted's influence at that critical time in my teen life helped me make the right decision and to this day, helps in making the right decisions. Thanks, Ted! Much love to you, your family and friends. At my son's funeral, Dr.Place's first words were "Today, Timothy knows full joy". Indeed, "TODAY, Ted knows full joy", the joy he longed to know in all fullness. How I will miss his voice and his amazing personality. His love for God's Word and people has left a lasting impression in my life, as he did with so many others. I'm only sorry that I live so far away and cannot attend his service. My love to Pat and the entire family! You will all remain in my prayers, as I'm sure you have an incredible void in your lives today. Be comforted knowing that many, many are praying for you today.
