William George Bombard

1937 - 2018

William George "Bill" Bombard, 81, of Lake Placid, Florida, passed away May 13, 2018, at his home, surrounded by his three daughters. He joins his beloved wife, Lynne, in heaven. Bill was born on May 1st, 1937, in Hudson Falls, New York to Cyril and Bessie Bombard. Bill was a Veteran, having served in the United States Army and Air Force. He was stationed all over the world during his years of service, eventually settling down in Miami after the Cuban Missile Crisis. Miami is where he met and married Marilyn "Lynne" Massmann on October 12, 1963. Together they raised their daughters. Bill worked for National Airlines and Pan American Airlines. When Pan Am closed, Bill began a successful house painting business,. During their 49 years of marriage, Bill and Lynne traveled all over the United States, Europe and the Mediterranean. Bill and Lynne reveled in the accomplishments of their three daughters and six grandchildren. They relocated from Miami to Lake Placid, Florida in 2009 where they became active members of the American Legion, Placid Post 25. Bill is survived by his daughters, Sharon(James)Bowen of Cocoa, Pamela(Ronald) Regula of Miami and Diane(Kevin) Levern also of Miami; grandsons, Clifton, Ronald, Robert and Daniel; granddaughters, Holli Lynne and SavannahLynne; sisters Vivian Gauger of Hudson Falls, NY, Ellen(Al) Rauschhuber of Santa Clara, CA, Mary Edgerly of Hudson Falls, NY and Margaret (Tony) Catone also of Hudson Falls, NY as well as many nieces and nephews all over the country. Bill will be greatly missed by his family and friends. A private memorial will be held later by his family.
