I attended Bill's memorial, of course, but just discovered this guestbook, and would be remiss not to add my comments. Bill and I were college classmates at UM and I lived with him and his family at their south Miami home. Bill and I were the same age, and he and his brothers were my brothers. His family was a second family to me, and losing Bill so suddenly was a great shock and a great loss. I am proud of my dear old friend. I read all the tributes written at various websites by his professional colleagues and am awed by the depth of his caring for his fellow man and the brilliance and tenacity to which he committed himself to the selfless pursuit of medicine for the sake of healing. You are surely and sorely missed, my friend.

My deepest condolences to the Harrington Family. I had the pleasure of knowing Dr. Harrington while I worked at UM Cancer Center. Several years later, in April of 2008, Dr. Harrington was kind enough to participate in Career Day at Campbell Drive Elementary School in Homestead, FL where he spoke to our students. He took time from his very busy schedule to attend even though he'd just returned from a trip. The students and I will forever be grateful for his kindness, generosity, and intelligence. He was a genuine good soul. May the Lord bless his family with peace in their time of loss. We were blessed to have known him.
In Christ,
William Stiehm

Dear Family,
I have many fond memories of Bill back in our high school days. Bill, I and Mike Dowling were thick-as-thieves back in those days. If you remember, we contemplated going into the Navy together right after we graduated from Immaculate-LaSalle High School. However, we decided to travel the USA instead and think about it. That was a wonderful and memorable trip. I still tell stories to this day. Especially the time we flipped the VW Van in northern California and were almost run over by an 18 Wheel Semi logging truck. I knew then that God had other work for us to accomplish on this earth. From what I’ve read, Bill has done great things for the poor and suffering of this world and unfortunately, for us all, his time was cut short.
I’ll always remember Bill as a happy-go-lucky fun-loving individual who lived life to the fullest. I’m just sorry we didn’t keep in touch over the years. I think it’s very true that “only the good die young”. Bill was definitely one of the good guys and will be sorely missed. Gone but never forgotten.
My deepest sympathy,
Ross and Lorraine Collazo

Dear Tim,
It was with great sadness that I learned of your brother's death. Though I only met him once during my employment at UM Sylvester, I typed his work and knew how respected and revered he was. So, your old retired Irish court reporter from many years ago can only say a prayer for him:
May the roads rise to meet you,
May the winds be always at your back,
May the sun shine warm upon your face,
The rains fall soft upon your fields,
and until we meet again
May God hold you in the hollow of his hand.
The family has been and will continue to be in our prayers.

At a moment like this we find ourselves lost for words.
To describe a pain that is undescribable, to justify the unjustifiable, to understand the unexplainable. We seek answers for the unanswerable. As mere mortals these are not our privileges.
We become painfully aware of our limitations, and very humbly accept the fragility of life and the intricacies of our journey on this earth.
We must supplicate the Almighty for his support and guidance, for we feel that we can’t properly see forward, we can’t adequately act, we can’t find ours ways. Our human senses have been overwhelmed and have terribly failed us on this tomentous moment.
We look for the Creator of the Universe, for all forces emanate from Him, and graciously beg for his support on this new mission that is before us.
With the Lord’s support we shall weather the storm and see us through a new day, as we will continue on to the completion of our duties to help the ones that depend on us
Please, Oh, Lord, give me the strength and the courage, which is beyond, my powers rights now, for my pain has robbed me of my abilities to move on.
Lord please help me put a smile on my face, to help make the journey for others, that depend on me, more bearable and pleasant and support them as they need.
Our loss is unmeasurable and we can comprehend it, but with the Grace of God a new begging will be granted for us and we will ultimately have to understand the mysteries of our lives.
Oh God, forgive us for our frailness and bless us with Thy Grace.
Amen.
