Sue Tinniswood Obituary

Sue Tinniswood, 61, of Klamath Falls, Ore., passed away on Nov. 13, 2010. She was surrounded by friends and family during her last days.
Sue and her family lived in Klamath Falls for more than 30 years. During that time, she was influential in the lives of many youth in Klamath County. She loved working with young people. She founded the girls soccer program at Henley High School in the mid-1980s and coached with them for close to 20 years. She also took the girls team to their first playoff game, mentored many young coaches, and coached many youth teams with her three children.
Sue worked in the special education department at Henley Middle School for nearly 20 years. She loved to help struggling youth and also did foster care for over three years until health issues made this too difficult.
She was beloved in her family as well and survivors include three siblings, Mike Dunn, James Dunn, and Sally Ogren; her husband of nearly 40 years, Bill; and her children, Billy, Cynthia, and Jonathan Tinniswood. Sue was also recently a grandmother for the first time about four months ago and is survived by her grandson, Landon Tinniswood, who she loved dearly.
Sue's family would like to forgo flowers and gifts, but instead encourages anyone who would like to support the family or remember Sue to pick one of two things. The first option would be to contribute to the "Sue T Scholarship for Persevering Youth." A fund is established that will be used for small scholarships for inner city youth in Denver, Colo., where Sue's youngest son has an outreach to at-risk youth. Please make checks payable to Youth Matters and send them to Denver First Church, 3800 East Hampden Ave., Englewood, CO 80113. Please mark the check for Sue T. Scholarship.
The other option would be to purchase a tree to be planted in Sue's honor. She loved the outdoors and living in an area surrounded by trees, animals and wildlife. To remember Sue in this way, please go to www.arborday.org and follow the Give Trees In Memory link.
If you would like to attend Sue's memorial service, it will be at 2 p.m. on Thursday, Nov. 18, at Faith Tabernacle in Klamath Falls. A reception will take place afterwards.

To plant trees in memory, please visit the Sympathy Store.

I was shocked and saddened to read of the passing of Sue. I worked with her at Henley Middle Shool several years ago. Sue was always a friendly, helpful, caring and kind person. She was fun to be around and truly enjoyed and cared deeply about the students. The biggest joy in her life was her family. May your happy memories make your grief bearable.

Sue was a great coach and role model, without her we would have never placed second in state my senior year. I will always hold her close to my heart and will remember her smile that always seemed to make everything just a little better.

Love you my Big Sis Sue; forever and ever. So glad I was with you the last week, and I will never forget the time I spent with you. Precious memories; felt closer to you than I did in our entire life. You are the
bravest person I have ever met. Pioneer spirit handed down from our
ancestors to you; no kidding! Wish I could attend your Memorial; I know you will not be there. You are with our Mama now, and all the others that traveled through the gates of Heaven. You are loved unconditionally by your younger sister and all your siblings. I will not say good-bye; only that we will meet again. Love you Susie-Q; your little sis.

Bill, Billy, Cynthia, Jon, and entire Tinniswood Family: My spirit is with all of you; and my love and empathy travels the miles to you. Thank you so much for allowing me to spend time with my big sister. I love all of you for being uniquely you. Sally Jean

Sue was one of the most caring, patient and loving people I know. She loved her Family unconditionally and her "new" Grandson, Landon, was the Light of her Life! She loved working around her yard, being outdoors, and enjoying her pets. It gave her great pleasure to be helpful to others, especially children. She was an example for ALL of us to emulate. May her Family and many friends find comfort in knowing she was respected, loved and admired by many. Our thoughts and prayers are with Sue and her wonderful Family. Colleen & James Garrett
