Bonnie Snyder Obituary

Bonnie Roberts Snyder

January 7, 1926 - February 3, 2022

Bonnie Roberts Snyder, age 96, was called home on February 3, 2022, surrounded by family. She began her walk on the Holy Hills of Heaven at 11:23 a.m. Thursday morning. The things she loved most were God's creation - being outdoors and her family and friends. She lived life well, full of love, humbly and happily.

Bonnie was born in the Paperville community of Sullivan County, to the late Josie Branson Roberts and Smith Roberts on January 7, 1926. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her loving son, Wayne "Speedy" Roberts; husband, Colonel Snyder; stepdaughter, Dot Snyder Collins and son-in-law, Retired Chief Master Sergeant Gene Collins; sisters, Louise Roberts, Nell Gentry, Ethel Roberts, and Lucy Jessup; brother, Bud Roberts; and her dear friends, Wanda Nunley and Frances Corey.

She will be greatly missed by her family and her many friends that she loved. Those left to cherish her memory are daughter, Mary Snyder Rouse of Bristol; grandchildren, Travis Rouse and wife, Jennifer, Tracie Rouse Ledford and husband, Scott, Jeannie Gale Collins VanderKruik, Terry Collins Weidemann and husband, Gary, and Ricky Roberts and wife, Rhonda; great-grandchildren, Josh Rouse and wife, Payton, Jake Rouse, Lauren Ledford, Drew Ledford, Gary John Weidemann and wife, Morgan, Stacey Weidemann, Clay Roberts, Emily Wampler, and Noah Wampler; great great-grandchild, Trip; daughter-in-law, Louise Roberts Roark, and several nieces and nephews.

Bonnie attended Paperville School. She worked tirelessly with a work ethic and a "never say I can't" attitude that carried through the remainder of her life. She began working as a seamstress at the Big Jack Manufacturing Company at a very young age and worked there for several years before moving to the Tri-State Corporation where she retired.

When not working her day job, she would always be found working outside. She loved seeing the wonders of God everyday through trees, flowers, clouds, and kind people. Picking berries and hunting ginseng were her two favorite hobbies.

A heartfelt thank you to Dr. Thomas Townsend and staff for the loving caring for Bonnie all of these years. The home visits were greatly appreciated.

Thank you to everyone who took the time to send her cards over the last several years. Each card brought her great joy. She treasured her friends and the relationships she built each and every day. She never met a stranger, and if you spoke to her once, you were her friend.

The funeral service for Bonnie will be held 2 p.m. Sunday, February 6, 2022, in the Weaver Funeral Home Chapel with the Rev. Gary Rowlette officiating. The family will greet friends to celebrate her life and share memories from 11 a.m. until 1:45 p.m. prior to the funeral service. Interment will follow the service at Rooty Branch Cemetery.

She will be carried to her final resting place by her grandchildren, whom she loved beyond measure. Honorary pallbearers are Dr. Thomas Townsend, Jr., Larry Rouse, Pastor Dennis Milhorn, and Ward Seats. The funeral service may be viewed by livestreaming at www.oneroomstreaming.com Event ID: WeaverFH Password: 6W5YRV

In lieu of flowers, the family suggests that donations be made to St. Jude's Research Hospital, 501 St. Jude Place, Memphis, TN 38105 in her memory.

So sorry to learn of Bonnie's passing. A kind and gentle person that has been my friend for about 85 years. I've missed her the last few years but know she is now with her Savior. My sincere condolences.
