It is with profound sadness that we announce the passing of Carl Nowak on December 22nd, 2023. A devoted husband, beloved son, nurturing father, cherished grandfather, and proud greatgrandfather. Carl's journey touched the lives of many. His legacy extends beyond his role as a family man; he was a consummate professional and a passionate rockhound whose enthusiasm for life left an indelible mark on those who were fortunate enough to know him.
Early Years and Family: Born August 30, 1940 in Weehawken, New Jersey, Carl was the beloved son of Carl and Anne Nowak. Following graduation from Dwight Morrow High School in 1958, Carl moved on to attend Colorado School of Mines as an engineering major on a full ride football scholarship. Carl's life was marked by a deep sense of family values and a commitment to excellence. His parents instilled in him the virtues of hard work, compassion, and an unwavering love for those closest to him.
Professional Achievements: An accomplished engineer by trade, Carl's professional journey was characterized by a commitment to precision and innovation. Eventually flourishing into executive leadership positions spanning five decades at organizations such as Alcoa and Teledyne before finishing at Electromechanical Metal Castings in Bristol, TN. Carl's legacy in the professional arena is a testament to his dedication to his craft and his impact on the world around him.
Passion for Rocks and Nature: Beyond the boardroom, Carl was a consummate rockhound. His fascination with geology and the natural world led him on countless adventures, collecting and studying rocks of all shapes and sizes. His enthusiasm for sharing his knowledge with others was infectious, and his passion for the beauty of the Earth will continue to inspire those who shared in his love for geology.
Family Life: In 1988, Carl married the love of his life, Patti, and together they built a life filled with love, laughter, and a dash of spoiling their 13 grandchildren. As a father, Carl provided unwavering support and guidance to his five sons and stepsons. His role as a grandfather of 13 and great-grandfather of six brought him immeasurable joy, and his presence was a source of warmth and wisdom.
