Helen Maddox

1940 - 2025

Helen Patricia Maddox, age 85, went to be with the Lord on November 10, 2025, in Knoxville, TN. She was born on February 24, 1940, in Bristol, TN, to parents Thomas and Hettie Horne. Helen graduated from high school and later served as the administrative assistant at Akard Elementary School in Sullivan County, TN. She devoted many years to supporting the school community before retiring. One of her favorite pastimes was collecting Precious Moments Figures, of which she had quite a large collection. These little symbols of love and faith were a reflection of her personality. Helen also loved gardening and playing Bunco in her free time. She was preceded in death by her parents, Thomas and Hettie Horne; her husband, L.J. Maddox; her brother, Bernard Horne; and her sisters, Jewell Hughes and Lou Bailey. She is survived by her son and daughter-in-law, Jeff and Sonja Maddox; her grandson and his wife, Lucas and Ashley Maddox, and their daughters, Autumn and Emma Maddox; and her grandson, Benjamin Maddox, along with his girlfriend, Charlotte Rodina. The family would like to say a special thank you to the staff at Morning Pointe of Hardin Valley for the exceptional care and compassion shown to Helen during her stay. The family will receive friends from 5:30 p.m. to 7:00 p.m. on Friday, November 14, 2025, at Click Funeral Home - Farragut Chapel (11915 Kingston Pike, Knoxville, TN 37934) with a service to follow. A graveside service will take place at 1:00 p.m. on Monday, November 17, 2025, at the Tennessee Veterans Cemetery (5901 Lyons View Pike, Knoxville, TN 37919). Lucas and Benjamin Maddox will serve as honorary pallbearers. In Lieu of flowers, please consider making a donation in Helen's memory to the American Diabetes Association.
