Hunter Preston Widener

December 28, 1942 - October 25, 2020

Hunter Preston Widener, age 77, was called by his Father to Heaven on Sunday, October 25, 2020, following complications of Lewy Body Dementia.

A committal service and inurnment will be held at 11 a.m. on Saturday, November 14, 2020, at Mountain View Cemetery in Bristol, Va.

In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to First Baptist Church, One Virginia Street, Bristol, VA 24201.

Condolences and memories may be shared with the family and viewed by visiting www.oakley-cook.com. Arrangements especially for Mr. Widener and his family have been made through Oakley-Cook Funeral Home & Crematory.

Just learned of Hunter's passing. We roomed together at Berea and I knew Virginia. Visited the family when they lived in western KY, SC and VA. Have a early photo of Virginia holding a young Michelle and Hunter in his uniform. If family wants the photo let me know.

I am so sorry to hear this. I worked for Hunter during the time he and Jean were married. He truly carried about the people of washington county and Bristol. Jean I was the one who made the eiffel tower that you used at your wedding. I not ask God to hold you in his hands as he is holding Hunter
