Joan Elizaneth Saraka Parkulo

Joan Elizabeth Saraka Parkulo went to her eternal home to be with the Lord on Thursday, December 1, 2022, in Johnson City, Tennessee. She was a daughter of the late George and Josephine Saraka, born to them on February 4, 1938, in Wilkes-Barre, Pennsylvania.

Joan was a loving wife, mother, grandmother, sister and friend. She was a well-known business woman for many years, owning and operating The Bridal Boutique of Bristol and Johnson City, Joni's of Bristol, and Yogi's of Bristol.

Along with her parents, Joan was preceded in death by her husband of 60 years, Michael "Mike" Parkulo Sr. and a sister, Dolores Benedetto.

Joan is survived by her loving children, Barbara Patrick (Junior), Sharon Ramsey (Eddie), and Michael Parkulo Jr.; her grandchildren, Matthew Ramsey and Michelle Fuller (Daniel); her great-grandsons, Hudson and Oliver Fuller; her brother, Eugene "Sonny" Saraka; and a special brother-in-law, Fran Benedetto. She is also survived by many nieces, nephews and dear friend, left behind to cherish her memory.

A Funeral Mass will be conducted on Tuesday, December 6, 2022, at 10 a.m. in the Saint Anne's Catholic Church of Bristol, Virginia. Entombment will follow in the Saint Anne's Catholic Church Cemetery with Eddie Ramsey, Matthew Ramsey, Daniel Fuller and Jim Penley serving as pallbearers. Michael Parkulo Jr. and Junior Patrick will serve as an honorary pallbearer.

The family will receive friends at the Oakley-Cook Funeral Home on Monday, December 5, 2022, from 5:30 p.m. until 7 p.m.

The family would like to extend their deepest gratitude to the nurses and staff of Princeton Assisted Living in Johnson City and the Smokey Mountain Hospice of Kingsport.

In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to the St. Jude Children's Research Hospital, 262 Danny Thomas Pl, Memphis, TN 38105.
