Junior Hyter Cox, age 78, of Bristol, Tenn., transitioned to his Heavenly home on Saturday, October 23, 2021, at Bristol Regional Medical Center. He was born on July 25, 1943, in Denton Valley, Tenn., a son of the late Jessee Hyter and Ora Mae Kitzmiller Cox. Junior was a lifelong resident of the Bristol area and retired from H.P. King Co.

He was a member of Bibleway Church where he served as a deacon. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his sisters, Josie Margaret Gross, Ruth Ora Williams, and Ann Marie Cox-Flick.

Survivors include his wife, Charlotte Marie Baumgardner Cox; children, Craig Matthew Cox, Phillip Brian Cox and wife, Tabatha, and Peggy Marie Cox; grandson, Phillip Brian Cox Jr.; sisters, Frances Baumgardner, Betty Norris, Jessee Cook and husband, Mac, Mary Thomas and husband, Cecil, and Shirley Rickson; brother, Don Cox and wife, JoAnn; special niece, Candy Rickson; and several other nieces and nephews.

The funeral service will be held 8 p.m. Tuesday, October 26, 2021, in the Weaver Funeral Home Chapel with Pastor Freddy Whitaker officiating. The family will receive friends from 6 until 7:45 p.m. prior to the service. The interment will be held 2 p.m. Wednesday, October 27, 2021, at Montgomery Cemetery. Pallbearers will be David Norris, Mike Norris, Ronnie Jones, Greg Jones, Freddy Whitaker and Daniel Whitaker.
