Miranda Chris Obituary

Miranda Blackwell Chris

Nov. 27, 1987 - Nov. 11, 2021

"A great life is a collection of happy memories"

This statement embodies how Miranda lived her life, in a way that had a lasting impact on the people (and animals) she interacted with. She was an amazing person that valued relationships and always cared about those around her. Miranda was a kind soul.

Miranda Blackwell Chris, devoted wife, beloved daughter, granddaughter, sister, and aunt, passed away on Thursday, November 11, 2021. Her memory and legacy will live on each day. Born to Joe and Brenda Blackwell, on November 27, 1987, in Abingdon, Va., Miranda was a sister to Joe Blackwell Jr. Miranda made many friends at an early age and they remained best of friends. Her collection of childhood memories includes cheerleading, soccer, softball, track, cross-country, and lifeguarding. Miranda met the love of her life, Kelly, while at Abingdon High School, with their first date being football homecoming in 2003. They married on Memorial Day weekend in 2011, creating a foundation of love and support for both families.

After graduating from Abingdon High School, Miranda attended and graduated from East Tennessee State University where she majored in Business with a concentration in Healthcare Management. Miranda's path led her to live in Texas, North Carolina, and Ohio where she excelled in roles with multiple employers in Healthcare, Advertising, and Learning/Development.

Miranda had a fanatic love for University of Tennessee sports and was an avid sports fan. Her hobbies included anything outdoors – hiking, biking, kayaking, and gardening – as well as indoor rock-climbing. Miranda had a passion for traveling and new adventures. She had a passion for dogs, especially her beloved German Shorthaired Pointer, Granger, and never met a dog she couldn't pet.

Miranda is survived by her husband, Kelly Chris; parents, Joe and Brenda Blackwell along with Donnie and Becky Salyers; brothers, Joe Blackwell Jr. and Derek Thompson; sister, Ashley Thompson; grandmothers, Joyce Keyes and Sally Chris; along with multiple aunts, uncles and many cousins. She loved her new nephew, Oliver Thompson.

A funeral service will be held at 1 p.m., on Friday, November 19, 2021, in the Frost Funeral Home Chapel with Pastor Stephen Richardson officiating. Interment will follow at Knollkreg Memorial Park. Visitation will be held from 5 until 8 p.m., Thursday, November 18, 2021, at the funeral home.

Memorial donations can be made to Friends of the Smokies, Southeast German Shorthaired Pointer Rescue, or Cincinnati Lab Rescue.
