Peery Griffin Obituary

Our beloved son and brother, Peery Griffin, went home to be with Jesus, on August 15, 2023.

Born in Bristol, Tennessee, he enjoyed the simple joys of life such as long drives, hiking, hunting, fishing, and spending time with family and friends. He was a loyal friend and would light up a room with his unique sense of humor. He enjoyed talking about profound theological, historical, and philosophical topics and had a great passion for the truth in Christ which was obvious to his family and friends. Peery was learning to ranch at Bitterroot Ranch in Dubois, Wyoming. There, his constant companion, Davy, Peery's beagle who he loved, rode horses, trucks, and tractors with Peery while he worked. Peery had a tender heart for the animals on the ranch and the wildlife in the Rocky Mountains that surrounded it. While Peery loved the West, he always considered the mountains of Northeast Tennessee his home.

Peery's way of life was a consistent reminder of the true, good, and beautiful. Peery was a graduate of Cornerstone Christian Academy and held a BA in History from King University.

Peery is survived by his father, Don Peery; and mother, Brenda Sue (Coomes) Griffin; his sister and brother-in-law, Hannah Sue and Houston Kilby,; his niece, Loretta Sue Kilby; grandparents, Don and Alma Griffin, Libby Griffin, and Frances Coomes; aunt and uncle, Kelli and Jim Willett; and cousin, Elizabeth Willett. Peery was preceded in death by his grandfather, Malcolm Coomes.

Services will be held at 2:30 p.m. Sunday, September 24, 2023, at Christ Community Church in Johnson City. Officiating will be Pastor Jim Powell.

I worked with Peery this season at Bitterroot Ranch. I´ve never met such an incredible individual- funny, sweet, considerate, goofy, kind, hard working. He could spin a yarn like no one I know and would make everyone in the room feel seen and heard. I raise a toast to you, my friend- i´ll remember and miss you always. Rest in love and peace.

I´ve known Peery since nursery at TCCS, we were always hanging out and laughing, bouncing off each other and having deep conversations as we grew older. It hurts me so much that he´s gone to be with the Lord but I know we´ll all see each other again one day.

Peery was the kindest soul who lit up every room he walked in to with his incredible wit. His mere presence uplifted everyone´s spirits. My heart aches that he´s gone; there are truly no words to explain it. I am however grateful for the memories we shared throughout the years, and I will continue to treasure them forever.

Love you always, Peery.

I knew Perry from working with him at Cabela's. He was always goofy in a reserved way. I will never forget the "Woot" "Woot" that was a going thing every time someone applied for a cablas card. So very sad to hear of his passing.
