GLADE SPRING, Va.
Verlin Warren Parris, 42, of Glade Spring, Va., passed away on Saturday, February 19, 2022, at Johnston Memorial Hospital.
He was born on April 1, 1979, in Washington County, Va., and lived in Glade Spring his entire life.
Verlin had worked at Yarber Tire from a young age alongside his uncle, Rolfe Yarber whom he developed a strong bond and high respect for. He enjoyed working with his hands and was always trying to fix something. Verlin was a lifetime member of the Glade Spring Fire Dept. and a member of Little Rock Baptist Church.
He was preceded in death by his father, Wilford Warren Parris; stepfather, Albert Dexter Hicks; and stepsister, Rebecca Hicks.
Survivors include his mother, Virginia "Jenny" Hicks; fiancée, Sharon Sturgill; son, Brayden Parris; sister, Angela Rominger; brother, Charles Hicks and wife, Rhonda; special friend, Joey Callahan; several aunts, uncles and cousins.
A graveside service will be held at 2 p.m., on Wednesday, February 23, 2022, at Old Glade Presbyterian Cemetery with Pastor Buster Mullins officiating. Family and friends are asked to gather at the cemetery by 1:45 p.m. Pallbearers will be Rolfe Yarber, Jessee Baumgardner, Eddie Yarber, Charles Hicks, Byron Yarber, Burton Yarber, Roger Cullop, Cody Hicks and Nick Yarber.
In lieu of flowers, memorial gifts are suggested to Little Rock Baptist Church, 36242 Loves Mill Rd., Chilhowie, VA 24319, or Nicewonder Children's Hospital, 400 N State of Franklin Rd., Johnson City, TN 37604.
