Barbara Elmore Obituary

SHERMAN - Funeral services for Barbara Ellen Elmore will be held at 10 a.m. Tuesday December 2 at the Western Heights Church of Christ. Richard Oglesby will officiate. A reception in the church will immediately follow the service. Mrs. Elmore, 73, passed away Friday November 28 in Sherman.

Barbara was born December 14, 1940 in Denison, Texas to the late Billy and Alta (Carter) O'Neal. She graduated from Sherman High School in 1956 and married John Douglas Elmore on September 29, 1968 in Dallas.

Barbara was a true servant. Her life was based on love and helping others. Barbara was always willing to help and serve anyone that needed or asked. She always did this with a joyful heart and without asking anyone for anything in return. Barbara devoted most of her life to caring for her children and more recently her grandchildren, while still finding time to care for her mother in law, sister, and her husband towards the end of their lives. She spent countless hours comforting them and providing companionship in their time of need, which is a testament to her unconditional love and devotion to her family. She helped and served many charitable organizations, always offering her time and service. Barbara knew what was important in life, as evidenced by her commitment to her friends, family, her church, and to the non-profit organizations that she spent her life serving. Above all else, she loved her grandchildren with all her heart and wanted nothing more than to know them, love them, and watch them grow. She has left a strong legacy for all those that knew her and whose lives she touched. She will be greatly missed.

Mrs. Elmore is survived by her daughter, Kelli Elmore of Sherman; son, John Elmore and wife Kimber of Sherman; two grandchildren, Abigail and Barrett Elmore; nephews, Tim Graves and wife Stacia and Billy Don Graves; niece, Lauren Hance and her husband Robert; brother-in-law, Tom Webster; and several other extended family members and a host of friends.

Barbara was preceded in death by her parents; husband; sister, Donna Graves and her husband Jim; and sister-in-law, Kay Webster.

In lieu of flowers, the family requests that memorials be made to CASA of Grayson County at 1518 S. Austin, Sherman, TX 75090.

The family will receive friends from 6:00-8:00 PM Monday December 1st at Waldo Funeral Home. A private committal service will be held at West Hill Cemetery with Tim Graves, Charles Dannel, Josh Martin, Ronnie Freeman, Chuck Wilson, and Tom Webster serving as pallbearers. The register book can be signed online at waldofuneralhome.com.
