CATHERINE BROWN Obituary

CATHERINE ANN BROWN Catherine Ann Brown was born February 13, 1943, in El Paso, Texas, to Albert Davis Jeffries and Naomi Ruth Jeffries. She graduated from Howe High School, earned a bachelor's degree at Bethany Nazarene College (now Southern Nazarene University), and a master's degree in education from the University of Oklahoma. While at Bethany College, she met her future husband, David Dee Brown, who helped type her papers and win her heart. They married on June 5, 1965, in Sherman, Texas. Catherine began her career as a beautician before dedicating 35 years to teaching second grade in Lakeside, California, retiring in 2003. Beyond teaching, she loved spending time with friends, especially on the tennis or pickleball court. She also cherished serving others through her church and enjoyed time at her family farm in Howe with the grandkids making cookies, playing Rummikub, and hustling at ping pong. Each morning started with her coffee-and-Bible routine, guided by her belief: "God isn't hindered by weakness, only unwillingness." She enjoyed solving crossword puzzles and reading. Catherine was a member of the Mission Valley Church of the Nazarene in San Diego, where she helped coordinate food and clothes donations for the homeless at Living Waters Church of the Nazarene in downtown San Diego. She went to be with her Lord on March 19, 2025. Catherine was preceded in death by her parents, Albert Davis Jeffries and Naomi Ruth Jeffries, and her husband, David Dee Brown, on May 8, 2014. She is survived by her son, Jeffrey Brown and his wife Katia of Frisco; her two sisters, Lenore Flowers and Sue Jennings of Sherman; her grandchildren, Naomi Brown of San Diego, and Daniel Brown and Sofia Brown of Frisco. She is also survived by numerous dear friends in California and Texas. Instead of flowers, please consider a donation to the Jesus Film Project, a ministry close to her heart, at http://jesusfilm.org/give
A life celebration is planned on Saturday, March 29, 2025, at 11 AM at Denison First Church of the Nazarene, all are welcome.
