CLARA CATHERINE BARNETT MAYHUE Clara Catherine Barnett Mayhue, 91, of Denison, Texas passed away Monday, November 17, 2025, at Stone Brook Assisted Living in Denison, Texas. Clara was born on February 26, 1934, in Caddo, Oklahoma to Clovis and Rosa Lee Calhoun. She had a long rewarding career as a school teacher and retired from Denison ISD. She enjoyed teaching music throughout her career. Clara was a faithful lifelong member of the Church of Christ where she served as a Bible class teacher for many years. Clara enjoyed spending time with her family, church family and friends. Clara married Jay A. Barnett July of 1956, and they were married for 20 years until his sudden passing in 1976. They together had 4 sons, Jay Charles, Jeffrey Neal, Joey Don and John Darrell. She was a loving and proud mother to her boys. She later in life met and married Ray Lee Mayhue in October of 1989 and they were happily married until his passing in 2010. Clara is survived by her sister, Judith Calhoun of Denison, sons, Jay Charles of Denison, Jeff and wife Carrie of Denison, Joey and wife Theresa of Denison, and John and wife Lori of Denison. 5 grandchildren Cody Barnett, Brittani Barnett, Taylor Barnett, Shelby Pettit and Bailey Barnett, 3 great-grandchildren, Silas, Kinslee and Avery. Clara was preceded in death by her parents, Clovis and Rosa Lee Calhoun, brother, William Calhoun, husbands, Jay Barnett, Ray Mayhue, and grandson Christopher Barnett. A Service Was Held Friday, November 21, at Cederlawn Cemetery.
