CLAUDIA MCKINNEY Obituary

CLAUDIA LOUISE MCKINNEY Ms. Claudia Louise McKinney, 83, of Sherman, Texas, was sent to her eternal home on Sunday, August 10, 2025, in Sherman. The beloved daughter of the late William Raymond Sr. and Laura Helen McKinney, Claudia passed away peacefully, surrounded by her family. Claudia graduated from Frederick Douglass High School in 1960 and later attended the Saginaw Business Institute in Saginaw, Michigan. She was a longtime associate at Johnson and Johnson in Sherman, Texas, and eventually retired as an Executive Secretary. Upon her retirement from Johnson and Johnson, she had a second career with the Texoma Council of Governments ("TCOG"). Baptized by the late Reverend Dr. W.E. McGruder at a young age, she was raised in the church and served the Lord as a member of Progressive Missionary Baptist Church. As a member of Progressive, she served faithfully until her illness as a Choir Member, Usher, Mission Sister, Announcement Clerk, Secretary of Auxiliaries, and Treasurer of Auxiliaries (she did it all!) Throughout her life, she enjoyed singing, playing bingo, being with family and friends, her social club (the Elegantes), and she was an ardent Dallas Cowboys fan! Those who knew Claudia will remember her for her infectious smile and laughter, her deep-rooted faith in Jesus, and her unwavering commitment to spreading love and kindness to everyone she met. Although Claudia's physical presence may no longer grace our lives, her spirit will continue to inspire and uplift us. May her memory be a blessing, and may we carry forth her legacy of love and compassion in all that we do. Claudia was preceded in death by her parents, sister Barbara Ann Walters (JD), and brothers Raymond McKinney Jr. (Bettie) and Ronald Wayne McKinney Sr. (Valerie). She leaves behind to cherish precious memories a host of nieces and nephews: Donald Walters (Marie), Windell Walters (Lynnette), Marcie Walters, Erika Curry (Darian), Jeffery Walters (Melody), Anthony R. McKinney (April), Christopher McKinney, Philip McKinney (Renee), Demetria McKinney, Ronald McKinney Jr. (Sylvia), Anthony McKinney (Tamika), Madeleine Estrada, Sebastian Estrada, Avery Flippo, and numerous great nieces and great nephews; as well as numerous cousins and other relatives, including her beloved Uncle Joe Grant Wyatt of Saginaw, Michigan and her dear cousins Carolyn (Spencer) Harris and Martha Wyatt. Claudia will be missed by many other family members and friends, especially Mary Gail Walters and Janet Hudson, who were steadfast companions and sources of support for Claudia. The family will receive friends from 12:00 PM 6:00 PM, Friday, August 22, 2025, at Cravens Funeral Home, Sherman, TX. Funeral services will be held at 10:00 AM, Saturday, August 23, 2025, at Progressive Missionary Baptist Church, Sherman, TX.

I am so sorry to ready about Claudia. I worked with her at Johnson & Johnson way back in the late 60's and early 70's. She was a very sweet lady.
