D.C. Benedict Obituary

SHERMAN - D.C. Benedict of Sherman, 69-year-old retired Texas Instruments employee, passed away Friday, Sept. 18, 2009 at his residence. Cremation arrangements are under the direction of Waldo Funeral Home. A memorial visitation will be from 7 -9 p.m. Thursday, Sept. 24, 2009 in the Waldo Funeral Chapel when family and friends will be able to eulogize and remember D.C.
Chaplain Tim Kerrick will officiate.
Mr. Benedict was born Aug. 17, 1940 in Sherman, the son of Dorchester Benedict and Zetha Pedigo Benedict. He and his family grew up in the Woodlake area between Sherman and Denison and he attended Sherman schools. He was employed several years ago at the Burlington Cotton Mill where he worked as a doffer and fixer. He later worked for Texas Instruments as a glass blower, retiring in 1997. He married Glenda Key on July 2, 1960 in Durant, Okla.
D.C.'s hobby and true enjoyment was designing and flying remote control airplanes. He was a member of the RC Modeler's Club, a group of enthusiasts who met and flew these large remote control airplanes which were as much as 3 feet wide or more.
He is survived by Glenda Benedict of Sherman; son, Darrell Don Benedict of Sherman; brother, Wendell Frank Benedict and his wife Christy of Denison; sisters, Dorzell Crockett of Howe, Martha Townes and her husband William of Luella and Helen Walters and her husband Randall of Ft. Worth; numerous nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his parents and a brother, Chester Frank Benedict.
The family requests memorials be made to Heart to Heart Hospice, 1500 Walters Ridge Drive, Suite 100, Lewisville, TX 75057.
