Dorothy McElroy Obituary
Dot was born September 8, 1934 in Wichita Falls to Joe and Lottie Chaney. She was a baton-twirling majorette at Wichita Falls High School, where she met the love of her life, Gene Bruce McElroy. She attended Midwestern University before they married on July 23, 1955.
She was a loving wife, mother, grandma, and G.G (Great Grandma), an avid reader and a Cowboy's fan who made a "mean" meatloaf. Dot was a member of Grace United Methodist Church. She and Gene served Meals on Wheels in both Baltimore, Maryland and Sherman for over 30 years.
She is preceded in death by her parents, Joe and Lottie; brother, Bill Chaney; sister, Jo Moore; and son, Gene Bruce McElroy, Jr. She is survived by her husband, Gene Bruce McElroy; daughters and sons-in-law, Kimberly Ann and Doug Bucy of Sherman, Katherine Elaine and Fred Briski of Rockford, Ill.; daughter in law, Kellye Smith of Springdale, Arkansas; sister, Bobbie James; and 7 grandchildren and 8 great-grandchildren.
Visitation will be from 4 - 6 p.m. Sunday, July 16, at Dannel Funeral Home. A funeral service will be held at 1 p.m. on Monday, July 17, at Grace United Methodist Church with interment to follow at Cedarlawn Memorial Park.
Pallbearers for Dot will be Michael Franklin, Daniel Franklin, Drew McElroy, Keith McElroy, Fred Briski, James McElroy, Gerald McElroy, and Robert Watson.
