Douglas Large Obituary

ECTOR - Douglas Wayne Large found peace in the arms of our Heavenly Father on Friday, January 24, 2014.

Doug was born on February 14, 1940 to Othel and Vera (Palmore) Large. He worked as a machinist from 1959 until 2002 at Varel Manufacturing, Bell Helicopter, Denison Industries, Hitchcock Industries, Texas Instruments, and retired from Kwikset.

He was an avid reader, and loved watching his Texas Rangers play ball. His grandchildren and great grandbabies were the light of his life.

He was married to his wife of 55 years, JoAnn, on January 17, 1959 at the home of Brother Lefton and Gladys Hester. He was a loving husband, father, grandfather and great grandfather.

Mr. Large is survived by his wife, JoAnn; daughters, Kim Rhudy and husband Joe, and Karen White and husband Bill; and son, Joe Large. He is also survived by his grandchildren: Natalie Garrison and husband Darl, Cole Rhudy, Valerie White and Josh Brown, Audra Rhudy and B.J. White; his great grandkids: Sophia, Olivia and Gage Brown; and Alaytan and Ayden Garrison. He is also survived by his sister, Sue Rattan and husband Bobby; sister, Valeeta Abbott; brothers, Charles Large and William Large.

Doug was preceded in death by his parents, brother Billy Ray Large and sister Katherine Patterson.

Graveside Services for Mr. Large are set for 2:30 p.m., Sunday, January 26 at Fairview Cemetery, North of Ector, Texas. The family will greet friends at Mullican-Little Funeral Home in Bells/Savoy from1-2 p.m. prior to the service.
