Billy Wayne Peña

Billy Wayne Peña of Durant, Oklahoma passed away on Saturday, January 31, 2026, at the age of 67. He was born on Monday, August 25, 1958 in Los Angeles, California to Melba Virginia (Sumner) and Lloyd Bill Peña.

Billy lived most of his life in Ector, Texas and Durant, Oklahoma. He attended Durant High School, Class of 1976. He married Shelia (Brown) on June 6, 1984 in Durant, Oklahoma. He worked at Stahls for many years, and retired from Walmart in 2021 after being employed there for 10 years.

He enjoyed fishing, working on vehicles, riding his motorcycle, and playing the guitar. He loved raising chickens and ducks.

He was preceded in death by his parents Melba Virginia (Sumner) and Lloyd Bill Peña; brothers Dean Peña, Tim Hickey, and Chuck Hickey.

Survivors include his loving wife of 41 years, Shelia Peña of the home; son Nicholas Peña and partner Destiny Clements of Durant, Oklahoma; daughter Ashley Grimes and husband Gary of Calera, Oklahoma; brothers Norman Hickey and wife Carol of Hugo, Oregon, David Hickey and wife Linda of San Antonio, Texas, John Peña and wife Tana of Durant, Stephen Clark and wife Tina of Albuquerque, New Mexico; sisters Gini Lively and husband Wallace of Blanco, Texas, Vangie Wingfield and husband Mike of Durant, Oklahoma; grandsons Zane Peña, Mark Grimes, Luke Grimes, Caleb Grimes; granddaughters Jazlynn Mackey, Audrey Grimes; numerous great grandchildren, nieces, nephews, cousins as well as other extended family and friends.

His biggest joy in life was his grandchildren.

A Celebration of Life will be held at 11:00 am on Saturday, February 21, 2026 at Roberta Baptist Church, 252 N Roberta Road, Durant, Oklahoma with Pastor Mike Wingfield officiating.
