David Westbrook Obituary

Obituary published on Legacy.com by Turrentine-Jackson-Morrow Funeral Home - Allen on Feb. 5, 2026.
David Kirtley Westbrook, 81, passed away on February 3, 2026.

David was born on June 5, 1944, in McAlester, Oklahoma, to Gerald Westbrook and Margaret Wooten. He was raised in Krebs Oklahoma where he loved to play baseball and hunt with his dad. He graduated from McAlester High School and later attended Eastern Oklahoma State College in Wilburton, where he earned his associate's degree.

David proudly served his country in the United States Air Force during the Vietnam War. Following his military service, he built a life defined by hard work, faith, and devotion to those he loved.

On June 26, 1972, David married the love of his life, Ruth, in Durant, Oklahoma. Together they shared more than 50 years of marriage, building a life rooted in commitment, family, and mutual devotion.

David attended Saturn Road Church of Christ in Garland, Texas, where he lived out his faith daily. He was a true servant of God, showing his love and compassion not only through words, but through acts of service to others.

Throughout his working life, David was employed by LTV, worked as a truck driver for Safeway for sixteen years, and served with the Dallas County Sheriff's Department as a Detention Service Officer for 25 years. A talented and capable man, David could fix just about anything. His skills included carpentry, electronics, and mechanics.

David's highest priority was his family. He was committed to helping them anytime they had a need. He made a point to stay in touch with everyone; always checking in to make sure they were happy, healthy, and safe. His steady presence, generous heart, and quiet strength left a lasting impact on all who knew him.

David Kirtley Westbrook will be remembered for his unwavering faith, his servant's heart, and his deep love for family.

He is survived by son David Lynn and wife, Regina of Tyler, Texas; son, Craig and wife, Rebecca of Garland, Texas; daughter, April and husband, Kyle of Van Alstyne, Texas; and grandchildren Cody, Caleb, Connor, Alexis, Caitlan, Sara, Abigail, and 5 great grandchildren, all who loved their Pa Pa.

He was preceded in death by his parents Gerald and Margaret Westbrook, wife Ruth, sister Mary Ann, and brother Jimmy Don.

A funeral service will be held at 10:00 a.m., Friday, February 6, 2026, at Turrentine-Jackson-Morrow Funeral Chapel, 2525 Central Expressway North, Allen, Texas 75013. Following the service, a procession will make its way to Ridgeview Memorial Park for a committal service.

The family will receive guests during a visitation on Thursday, February 5, 2026 from 6:00 p.m. until 8:00 p.m. at the funeral home.
