Ed Reid Obituary

Edward Earnest Reid 1946-2023 It is with great sadness that we announce the passing of Ed Reid. Ed passed peacefully on January 4, 2023, surrounded by family. Ed was a loving husband, brother, uncle, and friend. He will be deeply missed by all who knew him. We find comfort in the knowledge that he is now free in God's warm embrace. Rest in peace Ed, you are forever in our hearts. Edward Earnest Reid was born in Sherman, Texas on October 11, 1946, the son of RB and Frances Reid. He was a graduate of Sherman High School and Fresno State University. He married the love of his life, Paula Mayes Reid on June 25, 1984. He worked in banking most of his life. He worked as CFO for Douglass Distributing for seven years prior to his retirement. Ed was a member of First Baptist Church Whitesboro. He was an avid golfer. He served as a leader for the Boy Scouts and enjoyed taking the troop on campouts. He was preceded in death by his parents, and brother Mike Reid of Bedford, TX. He is survived by his wife, sister Linda Shepard and her husband Bill of Kingston, Ok; niece Alicia Harris, her husband Shelby, and great niece Kailtlin of Marietta, Ok; nephew Josh Shepard and wife Marisa Ridley of Capitol Heights, MD, Goddaughter Marianne Brummett and her husband Doug of Blue Ridge, TX, Clayton Brummett of Leonard, TX, and Paige Brummett Johnston of Bonham, TX. and many devoted friends. In lieu of flowers, the family requests that donations be made to St. Jude Research Hospital for Children in his memory.

Love you uncle Ed! I will always remember our endless nights of binge watching gone with the wind, the wrestling matches that you took me to because you knew I loved them, and card matches that you always let me win! You were endless laughs, love, and kindness.
