EVELYN PARKER Obituary

EVELYN L. PARKER Funeral services for Evelyn L. Parker will be held at 1:00 PM Friday, February 7, 2025, at Hale's Memorial Chapel, in Davis, with Shane Frye officiating. Interment will follow at the Green Hill Cemetery in Davis. Evelyn was born August 21, 1948, in Bonham, TX, to the late Edgar A. & Helen M. (Guthrie) Wilson. She died on Sunday, February 2, 2025, in Denison, TX, at the age of 76. Evelyn attended several different schools, prior to her family settling in the Colbert, OK area, where she attended the fifth through twelfth grade. In 1964, she married the late Jerry Parker of Denison, TX. To this union were born three children, Terry Ray, Tammie Lynn, and Gary Don. With Jerry being in the construction business, the family made their home in several Texas cities, prior Evelyn and the children moving to Murray County, OK, in 1979, where she raised her kids as a single parent. On September 24, 2011, Evelyn married Jim Wolters of Grand Rapids, MI. Evelyn worked multiple jobs to provide for her children, often two and three jobs at a time. Her places of employment included a local convenience store, Halliburton, Uniroyal/Michelin, Tub-O-Suds Laundry, as well as clean houses for the public. In February 1987, Evelyn came to know Jesus Christ as her Lord and Savior of her life. It was at this time the Lord connected her to numerous people who encouraged her along her spiritual walk. Some of those that helped guide her were Beverly Pence, Mike Dark, The Lowell Jones Family, Margie Foster, Donna Otterson, and the Trussell Family, just to name a few. The blessings given by these people were never forgotten and truly helped to shape not only Evelyn's life, but the lives of her three children. Evelyn was continually grateful for the Davis School System and the impact it made on her children. Evelyn greatly enjoyed attending church, visiting with friends and family, dancing, taking road trips, working in her yard, but more than anything she enjoyed spending time with her children, grandchildren, and great-grandchildren. In earlier years, Evelyn found great joy volunteering with the Women's Shelter and Celebrate Recovery, a Christ Centered support group. Survivors include her three children, Terry Ray Parker & wife Jessica of Denison, TX, Tammie Lynn (Parker) Matthews & husband Allen of Denison, and Gary Don Parker & wife Christie of Sulphur; seven grandchildren, Chris Casey, Joshua Casey, Anthony Parker & wife Stephanie, Marlee Parker, Gage Dawn McInturff & husband Eric, Brooklyn Skye Parker, and Shandy Dawn Thompson & husband Zach; seven great-grandchildren, Canvas, Ember & Brazen Parker, Moxie Dawn Brown, Boone & Brate Thompson, and Layton Parker; as well as numerous nieces and nephews. In addition to her parents, Evelyn was preceded in death by her three sisters, Elaine Higgins, Sharon Sue Adams, and Mary Garland. Online condolences may be offered at halesfuneralhomes.com. Evelyn was a friend of my mom's long ago when I was a kid, and I have some fond memories of her from back then. I always thought of her as smart, sassy, fun, and independent. Although that was long ago, I was saddened to come across today her obituary in the Sulphur paper. I extend my deepest sympathies to her children and other loved ones left behind. Rest in peace, Evelyn. Love, Susanne
