Frank Luckie Obituary

DENISON - Frank Leeds Luckie of Denison, 92-year-old retired Katy Railroad conductor, died Thursday, Oct. 16, 2008 at Texoma Medical Center.
Memorial services will be held at 3 p.m. Sunday, Oct. 19 at Waples Memorial United Methodist Church in Denison with Rev. Mike Nichols officiating.
Mr. Luckie was born on April 26, 1916 in St. Louis, Mo., son of George and Fannie Emma Luckie and attended Denison schools. He married Mary L. (Sandy) Sandstedt on Sept. 30, 1945 in Denver, Colo.
He worked on the Denison Dam and was a conductor for the Katy Railroad for 35 years. He was a member of Waples Memorial United Methodist Church and the Criterion Class. He was local chairman of the Brotherhood of Railway Trainmen and a member of the Happy Sam Club. He served on the Denison School Board and was a World War II veteran, serving for 4 1/2 years.
Mr. Luckie is survived by his wife, Mary Sandy Luckie of Denison; sons, David Luckie and wife, Sharon of Cartwright, Okla. and Jerry Luckie and wife, Lisa of Denison; daughter, Linda Beckelman and husband, Lewis (Buzz) of Denison; grandson, Jared Beckelman and wife, Regan of Austin; granddaughters, Paige Ostlund and husband, Matt of Austin, Sadie Luckie of Honolulu, Hawaii, Claire Luckie of Austin and Lindsey Sorrell and husband, Steven; and great-grandchildren, Addison Sorrell and Beck Ostlund.
He was preceded in death by his parents; brother, George (Buck) Luckie; sister, Sara Stokes; and granddaughter, Jera Luckie.
In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to Waples Memorial United Methodist Church, 810 W. Main St., in Denison.
The family will receive friends from 2 -3 p.m. Sunday at Waples UMC in Denison.
Bratcher Funeral Home, 401 W. Woodard in Denison, has charge of arrangements. Condolences may be placed online at www.mem.com.
